This fireplace is so nice and for the most part, of such great quality that it actually deserves a five star rating. I did have to downgrade the rating though because there were problems with the mountings on the back of the fireplace. One was broken off completely and the other was mounted with the large hole at the top rather than at the bottom. This presented somewhat of a problem particularly because we were unable to weld the broken mounting because it was stainless steel (even with the proper flux). We did manage to find a solution for attaching the bracket by drilling a hole and screwing the mounting on. As for the upside down bracket, we compensated for the difference in height from the properly placed brackets when hanging it and by luck managed to get it hanging straight. Had we not had these problems though, installation would have been a snap. As for the product itself, it is outstanding and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for this type of product and there is no question the value can't be beat. For those considering ordering from Canada, don't hesitate, mine arrived within about 10 days and was very well packed for shipping (my husband believes that bracket issues were factory problems and not related to the shipping itself).

I have been watching this product for years on several other sites that sell Gel Fuel Fireplaces. I have done all of the research for you!!! I ordered this product from O on 11-16-11 ( for Thanksgiving) and it I received it on 11-22-11 just in time. At that time, I could not find it anywhere cheaper. O included free delivery, I doubt you will find it anywhere cheaper. I wanted this for my living room, it's the coolest room in the house and because I have leather furniture ...it gets too cool to sit on comfortably during the winter months. My husband thought it to be a waste of money…..more on that in this review…. I've never used O before and only started shopping here due to this purchase. This fireplace is basically a gorgeous, very chic, very modern, stainless steel box with some installation on the back and it houses 3 sterno cans. The sterno cans ( Gel Fuel) are the same cans that would normally be used by caterers to keep the aluminum pans with food warm. There are no vents on/in the box. It’s very lightweight. it gets hot! The lower to the floor you mount it the better, I used it above the sofa table so it looks like the sofa table it the mantle. It's a box with 3 holes for 3 cans of gel fuel. That’s it. It gives off some smell but nothing horrible and I get headaches from smells all time which was a big concern but I have not had any issues. I have received so many compliments, and so many people are not aware that this way of a fireplace is eco friendly, convenient and a non-permanent way to havet a fireplace feel and some warmth. You can take it with you to your next house or apartment. It just sits on 2 screws in the wall. Gel Fuel: buy it at ' we love your home dot com'. Get the real stuff by Sunjel. It’s supposed to be the best brand. I read sooo many reviews and found that website nfo from another Reviewer on another site. They have free shipping and yes, I placed my gel fuel order the same day I ordered the fireplace from O. I didn’t’ think it was going to make it in time for the holiday but it did! The cans are 130z each and last for almost exactly 3 hours, each can gives off 3k btu. Longer than a log fire ( our friends have a regular fireplace and I timed how long the logs burned for a small fire). No one really advertises the warmth it gives off. It’s basically more for the look but I wanted warmth. So fyi-this fireplace totals 12k btu. For me that was important but no one really pushes the warmth. It’s kind of a bonus. Lastly, my husband loved the look and warmth it gave off so much, I’ve since ordered another gel fireplace off this site: Tate Stainless Steel/ Glass Wall-mount Fireplace on 12-11-11 for our 2nd floor bedroom and I today I am going to order the Wyatt Portable Gel Fireplace for our basement. P.S. do not use any paper products to wipe it. No paper towels!!!! I scratched mine a little...use cloth or 100% cotton. Your welcome.

When we opened this we were really excited. It looks amazing. The only thing negative is that it didn't come with anything to put the fuel in. We have to find some sort of stainless steel cups to actually hold the fuel. It does come with a little platform to put candles on (even these don't fit well) but in order to do what it looks like in the picture you will have to get something to put inside.

Based on all the rave reviews, I must got a lemon. I loved the fireplace the minute I saw it on Overstock. I was so excited to open the package when it arrived. As mentioned by others, the back edges of the fireplace are very sharp and I got a couple cuts. When I finally got the fireplace out of the box, I was dismayed to see that the four sides were either unfinished or poorly finished. On the right side, it appears to be a brushed finish. On the left side, it was mostly brushed finish with some polished finish. The bottom was unfinished. All of the welds on the top of the fireplace were visible. This would have been acceptable if the unit is meant to be recessed into the wall, but it's not. All four sides are visible when you hang it. There were also two scuff marks on the polished areas of the front face. I'm returning it. Again, based on all the great reviews that I read, I'm wondering if I just got a bad one. I really love the look of this fireplace and am considering order this again just to see if I have better luck with the next one. Especially now that I have a whole case of gel fuel that I ordered for this fireplace, I have to make use of it somehow.

I love my new fireplace overall!! But was a little disappointed because even though it came very well protected when I opened it up there was a few scatches on the stainless steel and a gouge in the black back piece I didn't want to go thru the hassle of sending it back so I'm living with it!

This fireplace is awesome! Closed in my fireplace and tiled it with 1" foggy gray tiles. Everyone thought I was crazy until they saw the finished fireplace. My new fireplace arrrived in great condition and took me about 2 minutes to hang. The tile man put the screw in for me so all I had to do was hang it. If you are wondering if you should order this fireplace, go ahead.

We got this to put up by our bathtub. It looks beautiful and is just what the space needed. I am glad I didn't put a real fireplace there -- this gives the effect for far less money! I haven't used the canisters sold here -- used some from a local garden center and they only lasted an hour! I am going to get some of the ones on here to see if they last longer. The candle option looks great as well!

I saw this on another site for $100.00 more....again.....way to go O.com !!! I ordered gel fuel from Sunjel and this product IS......smokeless......odorless....... and does crackle like a fire.

I purchased this fireplace for a wall between two windows. The items arrived with a few marks on the polished steel part. I used a metal polish to remove most of them. With the reflective surface, you can't tell there are any flaws. It was easy to hang. We plan on putting some tile on the wall around it to give it more presence in the room. So far have only burned candles, but will use the gel fuel I ordered on cooler nights.

Fireplace was very easy to install and could use right away. Be careful when removing the fireplace from packing. The metal on back of fireplace was "unfinished" and I grabbed a section that gave me a "paper cut." Love the fireplace.

My fireplace has been placed on a sofa table against a wall. I am waiting for new furniture to arrive before I attach it to the wall. I love it. I have burned candles in it. During cooler months I plan to use the gel. The stainless steel is beautiful and creates a nice ambiance in my living room. I love it just for the decoration. I will probably love it more when it serves as a fireplace.

I live in Australia. The product I ordered is exactly what I wanted, as I live in an apartment, and can't justify spending >Aus$3000 on the available Ethanol fires in Perth. However, the only problem is I cannot find a supplier ANYWHERE in Australia who sells any form of Gel fuel to burn in my lovely new fire! If I don't find a supplier there's no point in my having this fire at all. So will have to return to the US. Am so disappointed! Can't believe that gel fuel hasn't caught on in Australia, as its extremely popular in Europe, US & Canada. Yes, Ethanol is widely available here, but this particular fire can only burn gel fuel. Sob! Beware!

I love the looks of this, have not yet placed it on the wall, wish it was a bit larger, heavy and well made.

Wish it was packaged better with a clear coating adhesive on the stainless since there was a small mark on it. Does what was advertised. Do get many compliments on it when it is on. The fuel is expensive so we only use when guests are coming. Slight odor that husband smells I can not tell. Does sound like a real fire, that is impressive. Does give off nice heat. Have it in a great room and it is noticed as soon as people come in the door. We have it on a brick red wall and it looks very nice. The contemporary look is exactly what we wanted for that wall. We live in a condo and it is the perfect way to go for this environment.

I was very happy to receive this item. It is really nice. I was expecting it to be lightweight, but it is heavy and solid. I love the contemporary, chic style of this. It looks lovely in my bedroom and the fuel does give off generous heat which will really be welcome in the late fall and winter months. Very cozy and well worth the price.

Be aware that this is not stainless steel and that the gel burners have a really loud smell, but I have this mounted at the foot of my jetted tub and it gives my bathroom a real spa feel.

This fireplace is not only beautiful to look at but functional as well. It puts out quite a bit of heat into the room. And I received it in 2 days! I put this fireplace in my massge room and everyone that has seen it just fell in love with it, asked me where I got it, and expressed interest in buying one for themselves. Overstock should be sold out in no time! The only "flaw" that I found is that the holes/brackets on the back for hanging the fireplace were misplaced and I had to hang it from the frame...it has not affected the use, function, or appearrance of the fireplace. This fireplace is stunning. I have it on the wall in what has become my favorite room of the house. This fireplace used with the fuel gel offers the room truly cozy with the sound of the real crackle coming from the gel fuel. My husband and sons don't want to leave the room! The fireplace actually gives off lots of heat in my small room. I looked around at other sites that offer this same fireplace and did not find it cheaper anywhere else especially considering the low shipping cost that Overstock offers.
