It worked great bought 2 so my puppies would stay out of the trash. With the top opening on it's own. It would scare them away. But the stainless from sitting next to the sink and tolite get's damp and started pitting. I would say it would be nicer if it was just painted.

Nice trash can overall. The batteries are located inside of the trash can. So replacing them are a hassle since you have to take the can liner out then put the batteries in. My other trash can has its batteries on the lid, so replacing is easier. But since the lid moves up and down I understand why the manufacturers put the batteries inside. But the batteries do last so it makes this chore more bearable.

I bought 2 of these for my soon-to-be powder room and master bath. I had one just like it but you stepped on the foot handle to open it. These are only $5 more than those! And they work just as they should. For those reviewers who said that the lid closes too quickly, you didn't read and follow the instructions that came with it. The lid stays open for as long as your hand is there. THEN the lid slowly closes. The only thing bad I can say about it is that it is difficult and awkward to put the batteries in it. The battery compartment is on the bottom of the inside; it should be on the bottom of the outside. Other than that, these are awesome, and they're gonna update my new bathrooms perfectly!

I ordered four of this trash can for our bathrooms. The dog would eat the trash if we didn't have covered cans. They work well. The one in our bathroom is in a tight spot, and generally opens when you are going to the bathroom. It doesn't bother me that much, but it might drive some folks bonkers. I like them much better than the step can.

As far as garbage cans go, this one is pretty slick. I really like the motion sensor, though it can be tricky sometimes. I have not had any problems with accidental openings, even though it's pretty much right in front of where I stand at the sink. It actually works by being STILL, not by motion, by sensing something in the "field of view" of the sensor. That's how it does not open by doors opening, or walking in front of it, etc... You actually have to hold your hand (or foot) STILL in front of it. I have found the sensor really only works with something about 3-4 inches from the sensor, but that's fine. I usually hold my foot by it to open it, so it's not a big deal to be "that" close to the sensor. The only downsides are that the can is pretty small (1.3G fills up really fast), and the CLANG it makes when it closes. I fixed that by putting a small piece of sticky foam tape by the rim. Also, it really doesn't stay open most of the time if I'm fiddling to throw something away, such as floss. You pretty much get one shot to throw something away (lid stays open probably 3 seconds, not 6 like the manual says). But overall this is a nice can and is soooooooooo much better than the old foot pedal one we had, and way better than an open garbage where I can see my used q-tips and kleenex.

Purchased this(for the bathroom) along with a 13 gal kitchen trash can. It works extremely well. My only complaint is that it arrived damaged. The bottom/lower trim was cracked and broken in 2 places. It did not affect the operation of the can, so I used crazy glue to repair it. Seemed like too much hassle to return it and you can't 'see' the repair'. I did read on numerous Reviews that products arrived damaged, and true to the reviews BOTH my products had some level of damage. I am placing another order soon and HOPE that the damage issue was just a coincidence with these 2 products.

We purchased 2 of these trash cans to keep our cat out of the waste basket in the bathrooms. One has performed well without any problems, while the other one has not been as consistent (it does not always automatically open). The batteries could fit tighter into the unti, but they work once you have the cover for them in place. Regardless, because of a cover, it has keep the cat out of the trash which was the end goal.

Great stainless steel can came as expected. The liner inside really helps and sensor works really well.I have another stainless steel by another company and this one has a better sensor.

I bought the kitchen can directly from the manufacturer several years ago (named it Magic since it opens "magically"). Glad to finally buy Magic Jr for the bathroom and the price was typically Overstock great. These infrared cans are great for not having to touch the cans with your dirty hands.

I wanted a trash can in the bathroom with a cover to keep the dogs out of it . A step type one would have been very awkward in the small space. This can fit the bill. I have never had any problem with it opening up unexpectedly. It opens only when your hand is about 10 inches away. I did expect the lid to close more slowly or quietly. It comes down pretty fast with a bang. This really scares the dogs which is good in this case..This item has a removable pail but I like to have plastic liners in my trash cans. I found that you can get a 1.6 liter size which fits this one great from Simple Human brand. Overall quite happy.

I am really enjoying my new touchless trash cans. The only drawback is that the lid opens as soon as you walk past the trash can. This happens frequently when I open the bathroom door. The lid just pops up every tme I enter. Other than that I am very pleased.

This is a perfect trash can for me. Since I no longer have the use of my right hand this trash can makes my life so much easier!

We needed a bathroom trashcan with a lid because our lab mix thinks used tissue is delicious. A step can was not convenient in the narrow space, but I was worried this would open every time someone sat down on the toilet. Thankfully, the sensor is very specific, and this is working great. The appearance is fine, although the lid clanks a little when it closes. I wish it were a little bit taller, but the stated dimensions are accurate, so it wasn't a surprise. The big bonus is that the dog hasn't figured it out and is actually a little afraid of it.
