The cake stand is pretty and will look nice on my holiday table. The reason for taking off one star is that there is a screw right in the middle of the cake stand that is visible from the top so you need to put something under the cake. I would probably use a plate under it anyway but I didn't envision a screw that you could see. Otherwise I'm very pleased with it.
This is better for serving pizza or appetizers rather than a cake. My cakes always look a little "lost". I use this for school functions and it works for what I need.

This was a classy looking cake stand that seems to be very durable. Looking forward to using it!
I finally purchased this cake stand after looking at for over a year! Very glad I got. Made well. Reminds me so much of the "Fifties Diners." However, I only wish it came with a plastic cover :( I intend to use it outdoors for parties and certainly need a cover. Unfortunately, Overstock doesn't sell the cover as a separate item, either. I will buy one elsewhere on the web.
The cake stand has a great classic look and a good weight to it (I make high heavy cakes and nothing will topple over on this stand as it would with a lighter weight one). It does have the screw in the center of the plate to secure the bottom part of the cake stand to the plate part--this is in no way aesthetically unpleasing (cakes should have a board under them anyway); however, after a few hand washes washes there is a bit of rust at the screw area. Nevertheless, I'll probably buy more of the same and would definitely recommend this item to friends.
I like the clean, streamline look of this stainless steel cake stand. It is a bit more casual in appearance than I thought however it will never break
THIS IS A VERY PRETTY HIGH END LOOK, GREAT PRICE, MUCH FLIMSIER IN STORES. I HAVE IT AS A CENTERPIECE ON MY ISLAND. YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED
I was so glad when I rec'd it but.....OMG! I can't put it together. The screw ( Approx. 5 " long) that holds it gets harder and harder to turn as you get about an inch from completion. That's where it is now, I have had it for three days. I do a little a day. It hurts my fingers trying to turn that blasted screw. Maybe my son will be able to do it when he stops by. This thing should come already put together. What a mess! I have put together chairs etc ..ordered from Overstock, no problems at all. This thing is rediculous. If my son can't put it together back it goes. This is the screw from Hell! I don't have plyers...maybe they are the key. It's not made for a screwe driver....Oh well!
