Stainless Steel 5.5-quart Slow Cooker

We bought our crockpot almost 10 years ago, and it has been a helpful servant in my kitchen ever since! As another reviewer noted, this thing cooks quickly--which took some getting used to, however there is the "auto" setting which is a great compromise. What takes other pots 8-10 hours on "hi" this baby can do in half the time! I've learned to use the "low" setting or --as an alternative-- use a lamp-timer set just-so, and food turns out beautifully every time! The stainless steel is easy to clean and looks great on the counter. Even the cheesiest cooked on crust will wash off easily if you soak it for an hour or so. Sadly, the heating element just died on my old work-horse, so I'm in the market for a new outfit, and altho' there are tons of other crock-pots on the market, I find myself coming back to this old friend. What's a girl to do?

This was a little slow in arriving but I was very surprised when I took it out of the box. It was very well packed and was undamaged. It is very large though. I didn't realize how large it would be. I used it immediatly upon washing the crock. I've used it again very recently. I will have to start doubling or tripling my recipes though to fill this crock. It is so large, I don't know if I could lift it if it was full. I am very pleased with this purchase and wouldn't hesitate to order from Overstock again.

This is a very good slow cooker, I use it once a week and everything cooks even and on time,This cooker looks great on your counter if you want to leave it out, So if your looking for a great Slow Cooker look no further.

My gas stove sprung a leak, And blew up,because of the safety feature of the flint lighter I had no fire. I found myself in need of a way to cook until I could choose another stove. The 5.5 slow cooker was one of the ways I choose to cook for my large family. We have never eaten dried lima beans that taste sooo gooooood. It cooked in record time. The clean up was even quicker.Quicker than useing a stove.

Each recipe I have done has come out overcooked even when I shortened the time an hour, the meat is overcooked! I have wasted more food! I tried deducting cooking time at least two hours. I just cooked a chicken dish that was suppose to take 3-4 hours on high, so I cooked it on low instead and after 2 hours, it was already over done. I have tried different variations and still get overcooked food. I have never had a crockpot do this before. Could be a malfunction. I would look forward to others comments on this crockpot.
