I have been using this knife and the paring knife that comes with it since I bought it nearly two years ago. While I currently own three sets of knives, only on rare occasions do I use a knife other than these two. I take special care of these two knives, and I encourage you to make sure you have a sharpening steel and a whetstone. I steel the knives frequently(every few days for short use, and about once to twice during long cooking projects), and use the whetstone once a month. For such an inexpensive knife, simple upkeep retains a razor sharp blade. I find it easy to even cut through tomatoes with ease, making paper-thin slices.The hybrid of a santoku and chef's knife allow for a huge arrange of tasks, from slicing to mincing. I prefer knives which do not have any extra materials for a handle. This is one solid piece, with some grooves on the handle to allow for easy holding. The scalloped blade allows for cutting without food sticking to the blade.My one issue with the hybrid knife is the spine features a a short rise after the handle. I generally hold it as a chinese vegetable cleaver, with my hand far forward, with my index-finger knuckle over the spine of the knife (rather than a fist hold over the handle). The rise in the spine digs in a bit in my grip during large cooking projects, giving me a bit of a callus.Long story made short: buy this knife set, and you will barely need others. For such a small price, you can't go wrong.

I really wasn't sure about these knives when I ordered them. They looked so different from the Henkels knives that I've been using. The price was so good, I had to give them a try. They arrived quickly, beautifully packaged and were incredibly sharp. For the price, they can't be beat. I'll probably never go back to the expensive Henkels.

The large knife was so sharp it virtually floated through our corned beef on St. Patricks Day. I am definitely happy with my purchase. I am hoping that this wonderful initial sharpness does not go away. I am always thrilled to get a really good knife. Dull knives are dangerous knives.

These knives cut throught every thing with ease. Cutting a melon is and getting rid of the rind couldn''t be any easier. I cut through a chicken that was half frozen in one slice. Can''t get much better than that!

We have had this knife for well over 3 years and it has never gotten dull, the weight is very nice and the paring knife is perfect for ALL smaller jobs. I make sushi and I have found this large Santoku to be the perfect knife for all the little precise cuts needed when preparing such delicate pieces. We have put ours in the dishwasher and we have not seen any damage to it because of it.

i bought this knife for my wife nearly 3 years ago (sometime in 2008). this is still my wife's favorite knife and looks as good today as it did the day we got it. i highly recommend this knife.

knife gets dull very fast . would not buy it again

Got the knife set for Mothers day. Nice on the kids part but got dull very fast. I only cut fruit and veggies should have held up longer it is a pain to sharpen. Would not buy again

the knives were exactly as advertised. i would rather the handle be slightly wider.

Nice! Works wonderfully. I bought a knife sharpener to keep it sharp_ looks good and isnt too heavy to hold.

I am pleased with the quality of these knives: for the price i payed, they have surpassed my expectations. I have not had a chance to use them much, however they are lighter than expected (weight wise) the santoku knife seems to be well balanced and the paring knife fits perfectly in my hand. they are a unique style and i cannot speak for the durability of this product yet: but what I can say is that I am pleased.

I purchased these knives approximately 6 months ago. They are very dissapointing. As of today they need to be be sharpened, became blunt very very quickly. I would not purchase them again.

We've really enjoyed using these knives - they are sharp and fit nicely in the hand. Should have ordered them sooner!

From the time that I received these knives, they are the only ones I use in the kitchen. Great product for great price! Overstock.com did it again...! I am very happy and will be back!
