ceramic slicer
from Youngstown NY,  Dec 20, 2007

this is one nifty kitchen item...large enough to control, and sharp enough to do the job! I really like the convenience of a single blade slicer that stores easily. Since it is ceramic, no worries about rust or the blade dulling after repeated use. Just a terrific item at a very reasonable price.

LOVE IT !
from Medford, NY,  Aug 10, 2010

While vacationing in Olympia, WA visiting relatives last month I had the opportunity to try this mandoline slicer while helping prepare dinner - I absolutely LOVED it ! I had no idea where they had gotten it but when I got home I decided to check overstock.com to see what kind of mandoline slicers they had - if any. I was totally thrilled when I saw this and ordered it right away - there was only one left and I got it !!! I have already used it several times and couldn't be happier ! The slices are paper thin, it is very easy to use and very fast (it cuts on the way up and on the way down due to the double edged blade). If there was one negative about it , it would have to be that whatever you're slicing has to be really firm or it doesn't create slices (especially with a tomato). Overall, it was a FANTASTIC deal and I would 100% recommend it to a friend - had there been more available I would have ordered several to give as gifts.

Not quite what I expected
from Durham, NC,  Aug 12, 2009

It seems to shred the vegetables more so than chopping it. Not a good choice but what did I expect for the price.

Stafford Ceramic Blade Mandoline Slicer/Julien
from Ithaca, NY,  Apr 2, 2008

The safety guard does not hold the veggies well at all; the slicer is non-adjustable and slices too thin; the julien slicer makes mush. I'm sorry I bought it.

Good Product but not all what I expected
from Bentonvill, AR,  Mar 30, 2008

This is a good slicer. It does very well on potatos and squash. didn't do as well on harder vegtables like onions. The Julien slicer really is just a shreddar. the product is small so it stores really well. It worked for what i wanted it for but i'm not sure of how many other applications i can use it for.

Great pricing average product
 from NYC,  Feb 22, 2008

I have used these slicers twice, once on cabbage and then on onions. They sliced both items , but the slices were not uniform in thickness. The thickness depended on how much pressure the user applied. Overall not a bad item for the cost.
