I was lucky. Through a quirk combination of luck, I was able to get this grinder for $400 delivered. I was looking for the 3/4HP, but this time, this grinder came in at the same price delivered as the 3/4HP. Figured I couldn't go wrong. Unlike alot of stuff these days, when they say commercial, they really mean it. Any good 1.5HP industrial type motor is heavy and just "humms" when running, yes this is such a motor. The grinding head is heavy. The case gauge is heavy. Then auger is heavy. Even the meat pan is heavy gauge. All of it almost unnaturally heavy for an appliance this day in age. And, all stainless. Quite, solid, heavy, fast. Hardened steel gears in an oil bath transmission. Although it has a reverse, I'm not sure why you'd need it. It just doesn't stop. You'll leave it to your kids.

Excellent grinder.. Very heavy duty, makes quick work of chicken bones.. I purchased this for raw feeding 2 dogs and a cat. We made the switch from traditional raw to ground raw after 3 instances of cracked molars due to natural method of raw feeding--whole, quartered sections. Let me tell you, it's been great. We've cut the total time we spend preparing food for our pets to less than half. We used to spend 15 minutes every two weeks to clean and process (skin and chop) two whole fresh chickens from Costco, and about 5 minutes each day preparing their meals. Now it takes 30 minutes to process 4 chickens for the entire month, and about 2 minutes each day to prepare their meals. Let me clarify the processing time so get a better idea of how well the machine performs. When I say 30 minutes, that includes washing, cleaning, skinning, chopping, grinding, portioning, and cleanup. The actually grinding time is tiny--it takes about 1 minute to grind an entire chicken. Maybe less. I didn't actually time it but it was FAST. It grinds as quickly as I can feed parts into the chute, without any sign of slowing down. The only thing I have to worry about is rotating the bowl on the other end so the grounds don't pile up and make a mess. We could have grind twice as much chicken to save more time overall but honestly the grind time is only a tiny fraction of the total time and we don't have the space in our freezer.. Also, we portion the meals into zip lock sandwich bags instead vacuum sealing them so freshness would be an issue if they were in the fridge for much longer. Fresher food is always healthier food. While cleaning up is of any grinder is always a chore, the size of this grinder actually makes it easier. The chute is 3" wide so I can clean it much easier. Likewise with the grinding assembly. So there are no small crevices that meat can hide in. Before washing, I turn on the kettle to boil a liter of water.. It takes me about 5 minutes to wash all the parts. Everything is very easy to wash except for the tray. It's huge and doesn't fit well in our sink and the safety guard is mounted semi-permanently onto the tray rinsing behind it is a bit harder too. But once that's all done, the water has boiled and we pour the boiling water over all the parts for extra safety. In total it takes 10 minutes to clean up--that includes disassemble, clean, wash, sanitize parts and sink, towel dry and reassemble the grinder and put it away. Speaking of putting it away-- we have the grinder on a rolling kitchen cart. Actually it's not a kitchen cart but a much cart that fits in a small nook in our kitchen. Because it fits the grinder perfectly without any additional wasted space. Without the grinder sitting on a rolling cart, you'll have to dedicate space for it on a counter or shelf.. It's around 80 lbs so it's probably not something you'll be "taking out" or "putting away" unless you have it on a cart. Summary Pros: -Powerful motor, excellent performance -Feed chute large for quartered chicken parts. -very high quality parts, extremely solid build, nice finish -size of parts makes it easy to clean thoroughly Cons: -large size and weight will require dedicated space, unless mounted on a rolling cart -tray is very large and hard to wash in small sinks. Precise Dimensions: Feed opening on tray: 2.9" Feed opening on guard: 2.5" Width of base unit: 7.5" Height of motor unit (excl. non-removable handle): 29.5cm Height of motor unit (incl. handle): 34cm Length of motor unit (excl. grinding assembly and rear knob): 15.5" Length of assembled unit (excl. rear knob): 23.5" Length of tray: 14.5" Width of tray (excl. guard): 10" Width of tray (incl. guard): 10.75" Depth of tray (excl. chute and guard): 3.25"

Unit is large enough to feed a whole army. Stainless steel trays are easy to clean. My only issue are the plastic lids, they are very thin and after a weekend of use, there were hairline cracks. You have to be extra gentle when cleaning it. Overall a good product.

Less expensive version of similar products. For its purpose, and non-frequent use, an excellent buy.

This purchase looks good with stainless steel and black kitech appliances. But, it also looks elegant anywhere I use it. The knob wasn't difficult to manuver and it's not heavy!! I really like the opening for the serving utensil. The covers are not glass but I needed the plastic covers because they are light weight. The temperature ia just right for keeping items warm without constant adjusting.

It works very well The only complaint I have is that it makes so much noise that it hurts my ears. I put some earplugs in to cut down the high tinny sound bombarding my ears.

Of course it's brand new but it opens different kinds of cans with ease. No hanging up on the blade as some have. It's tall so cuts large cans as well.
