So far, the product does exactly as described. It dehydrates quickly and is not very loud. Easy to use.

As a raw foodist, I need a dehydrator in order to have a variety in my diet. I dont want to kill the vital nutrients, but I like cookies and products that taste like cheese. So now that I have the excalibur food dehydrator I can take my eating to a whole new level and I love the way it works and assists me in my life style choices.

I've heard a lot of good things about this dehydrator so I finally retired by 24 year old ($**.**) dehydrator for the new 2900 9 tray dehydrator. I'm not impressed with the quality of the trays. The trays seem flimsy and the dehydrator is loud while in use. I think I should have checked out other models at a lower prices.

The Excalibur saved me so much $$$$$ and was worth every penny. You may pay a little extra for it but in the end you will be thankful you did! With the recall on dog treats (chicken jerky) it was so hard to find some made in the USA and even if I did it costed so much more. My husband decided to buy a dehydrator and make our own jerky so the dogs always had there favorite treat. He bought a cheap on first to test it out to see if dogs would even eat them. The cheaper one was smaller and took hours more but at least we knew dogs would love the jerky. After much research we decided to buy an Excalibur because it gets great reviews and has timer on it so it automatically shuts off when done. It also let's you set the temp you want and we went with the 9 tray one for more room. This unit is the best investment for anyone with dogs or loves jerky themselves. It also is great for dried fruit, flowers and even crafts. No more stale crackers, cereal or croutons. It make yogurts too!! The ideas & recipes are endless and does the job in half the time. The size is about the same as a older model microwave but light enough to be able to put away if you don't want it sitting out all the time. We really can't say enough about this unit. Highly recommend a Excalibur! Overstock had a great price, shipped out fast & customer service has always been top notch so it was a no brainier to order from them. Thank you so much!!!

This is a very good product, easy to use. I wish the instruction booklet had more info on jerky recipes, etc. But, you can find just about anything you want on youtube or other places on the internet.

I have had this dehydrator running for hours-on-end since receiving it. I absolutely love it. It is easy to operate and cleans up fast. It also looks good on my small appliance shelving.

I received the Excalibur dehydrator for my birthday and haven't stopped using it! It is a wonderful way to make healthy snacks!

This product had a defective thermostat when i received it, so it did not heat properly (the highest 150 degress food temp setting only heated to 100 degrees air temp-- should have been 170 degrees air temp or so). Turns out Excalibur is known for thermostat problems. The simplistic design results in inaccurate heating. Excalibur customer service was horrible (their technician never returned my call or email), so I just returned it to Overstock for a refund, and purchased a L'Equip. Overstock customer service was great.

I am very happy with my purchase of the Excalibur dehydrator. I bought this to make 24 hour yogurt, and I am glad I did. I can fit twice as many jars in here as I would have been able to in my old yogurt maker. I have also made 24 hour sour cream with this and I have also used it to toast nuts after soaking. The dehydrator is the perfect size for me, and I don't think it is noisy at all. It just sounds like a light fan running. I am very happy with this purchase, and if I need a larger dehydrator in the future, I plan on buying the Excalibur brand.

Always wanted an Excalibur. I make jewelry and my teacher used one at a class I took and it dried my metal clay jewelry in minutes. As for drying fruit, it not what I expected but it very good. I thought the fruit texture would be like the ones you buy in the stores but I have now discovered that those fruit are freeze dried. This machine makes the fruit a dryer texture but still very flavorful. I was able to process six huge mangoes that weighed a pound and a half each, 4 pears, 3 apples, and 4 kiwi using only 5 of the nine trays. The machine ran all night and it was quiet and did not keep us awake. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment so we were sleeping quite nearby. The first batch was prepared with pure lemon juice and the fruit came out nice and tangy. The second batch of mangoes, kiwi, bananas and pears were prepped in 3 different ways. I used citric acid, diluted lemon juice and the honey and sugar method suggested in the manual. All were flavorful and the color nice and bright. The sugar and honey fruit were the sweetest. The entire 2 batches were a total of 8 kiwi, 12 large mangoes (remember 1 1/2 pounds each), 7 pears, 3 apples and 1 banana all held in a 1 gallon zip-lock bag which was only filled about 2/3 to the top. I can't wait to make my next batch.

I bought the 10 tray some time ago and have only used it a few times. I am very DISPLEASED with this product. I went the cheap route and bought this one instead of buying an Excalibur (I read that the horizontal fan is the best route), which was a big mistake.I¿ll start with the pros, what little there are.Pros:1. It¿s inexpensive.2. It¿s very quiet.3. The trays are dishwasher safe.Cons:1. It does not dehydrate evenly.2. It takes AT LEAST TWICE as long to dehydrate something than what it should.3. I contribute this to it¿s poor design. The trays act as the ¿door¿. This leaves many gaps which lets the hot air escape. I don¿t understand why they would bother building it like this, it makes no sense.4. There is no drip tray. I don¿t know if others have one but my first dehydration ¿project¿ I made jerky and set the meat directly on the tray. Besides the fact that it took way more hours than the instruction booklet said, the juices and such from the meat dripped to the bottom. It¿s a pain in the butt to clean.5. If you pull one tray out, you¿ll likely be pulling out two. They get caught up on one another. It¿s quite a nuisance.6. I¿m not sure if they make tray covers or whatever but it would be nice if they did. Messing with saran wrap to cover them is a hassle in itself and my fruit leathers that I made stuck to wax paper :-( .Overall, I recommend not buying the Vegikiln. I hope this review helps. It does get the job done but it takes forever to do so and it makes dehydrating things very frustrating.

Got this for my daughter for Christmas. She has made fruit leather and beef jerky in it already. She loves it. It works very well.

I like this product but it still seems to take a long time to dehydrate. It is also pretty big so I need to find someplace to put it more out of the way. But, it works very well and I will be using it more as the summer goes by.

I purchased the dehydrator as a gift for my daughter. She loves it and uses it a lot. It was on her Amazon wishlist, but I saved so much money by purchasing at Overstock! It was shipped directly to my daughter very quickly.

Product is good. The only issue is when I opened the box and took the product out, there was a crack on the panel of the sliding door. A bit disappointing but I can still use the product. One thing to note if you are buying from overseas is that you will need to buy a voltage transformer if where you are the voltage is higher than 120 (ie 240). I was already aware of that and it still turns out to be a much better price when buying from overstock!

I think I'm going to have a lot of fun dehydrating herbs from my garden this year with this dehydrator. I dehydrated some cilantro and onions I had in the fridge just to try it out and it worked great. It dryed in the time it said it would in the instruction booklet. I feel the cost of my dehydrator was money well spent.
