So pleased with this I'm writing my first review ever of a product. And ordering another one. This is one well-made attractive and sturdy lamp, the reading light is the best in the house and controls for both are easy to deal with while sitting in reading chair. I am assembly-challenged and got it together with far less fuss than I expected. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Happy camper.

Ordered this on a Wednesday; it arrived Friday! The only difficult thing about this lamp was getting it out of the package (very secure!) Notthing extra is needed for assembly, since the special-sized tool is included. (Hint: Tape the little tool to the back of the middle switchplate section, in case you ever need to relocate, or disassemble the lamp.) The styling is sleek, with graceful flared conical light shades, (the swingarm halogen lamp even has a directional rod that pretects from burns, when adjusting the angle. And a UV lens cover!) I recommend this torchiere to anyone needing a great-priced floorlamp, but who might have less floorspace than what a traditional, bigger "footprint" lamp would take.

This lamp looks great and has all the bells & whistles I was looking for: a swing-arm spot lamp for reading that wouldn't interfere with someone watching TV in the same room, as well as an up-light for the entire room. Each light has two settings, low and high, with ultra-handy controls in the middle, rather than on the base. My only complaint is that the supports are held at the base with set screws that stop against the pole supports, rather than going through them, so there's a slight wobble to the supports, but it's easy to live with. It was packaged great and very simple to put together, taking all of about 15 minutes.

This is not a $300 lamp. This lamp is not as nice as the picture and is overpriced to recommend it to others, even w/ Overstock's 50% "discount". The nice aspects of the lamp are its heaviness and the reading light's flexibility to move to various angles.

We LOVE this lamp. Be sure to slide the switch on the remote thingy if the lamp does not light at first. (That is not in the instructions.) I would recommend this lamp to everyone.

I bought this light for my husband who loves to read and needs extra light. He continues to say how much he loves the light it provides. It's great becasue the reading light on it can be moved around to exactly where you want it shining. I am surprised by how much light is put out by the top light also. I remember reading comments regarding the light bulb sticking out from the top light but we don't have that problem. I never thought about how convenient it would be to have the on/off controls on the pole instead of at the bottom of the light. Works great and is very easy to turn on and off. My main goal was to buy a light that provided enough light and this one works perfect. My husband did comment about the screws on the bottom not being the best but he had no problem putting it together and said they would probably hold it together ok. I definitely recommend this light if a reading light is what you are interested in.

Not an especially good deal, but it is a nice lamp. I did not get one of the important small screws and overstock was very prompt in attempting to replace it. They sent the wrong screw initially and are now sending another one. Hope it is the right one. It should be quite stable with all of the screws in!

I like this lamp a lot. It was easy to assemble and puts out a lot of light. Two caveats: (1) The chrome is bright, not brushed; (2) The joint where the lamp connects with the base is not strong, so be careful about bumping into it.

Easy to put together, also agree with others that they need longer screws, worry that it wouldn't take much to twist it,. Overall I like it, and would get another one.

I got this lamp because it seemed sort of stylish and fit my office decor. But I cannot recommend it. It works fine and the lighting is bright. I like that you can adjust the combination of the two lights in several different ways. But where you attach the two upright tubes to the base is very flimsy. One tube seems secure but the other one did not really tighten fully. Maybe I accidentally overtightened, but I was trying to be careful. The end result? It tilts a little bit to one side, and turns at an angle with in the base. Think of it as a weird 10 percent spiral twist between the base to the top of the lamp. So much for the clean upright look I expected. I finally was able to position in one spot where the "twist" was not visible at a distance. But if I use the small lamp and adjust its placement, it torques the whole lamp off center. I would send it back, but I figured it was just not worth the hassle of unassembling the parts and boxing it up. For the "sturdiness" of this lamp, you are better off just buying a cheap halogen floor lamp--they work fine and at least stand up straight!!

This was easy to assemble and appears to be very stable. I used standard light bulbs and can not see them from the top as some others have stated.

Great lamp at a great price

I like the design of the lamp. But there are two things need to be considered before buying it.1, Standard light bulb will stick out of the top, and is very visible. I changed to a smaller size light bulb, then it is fine, but it is not as bright as I want it to be.2, I am not sure if I did something wrong, after I tighted all the screws( as much as I can), the two poles are still movable (could be twisted to left and right).

but missing all light bull in the box which overstock mail me only one I had to buy the rest of light bull l myself

Very nice looking lamp. A little pricey for what you get. Overall, the lamp provides excellent lighting and the lamp is very classy looking.

I really like this lamp. The only reason I did not give it an overall rating of 5 is that the light bulbs seem to stick out above thelight fixture on top. Not a big deal, because the lamp does exactly what I needed - gives off a great amount of light over my desk and the swing arm gives that extra boost at night.

This lamp is relatively easy to assemble - the only issue there was that I didn't feel that the set screws holding the two legs to the base were substantial enough and it was hard to tell if the legs were fully seated in the base. But time will tell on that. The lamps (I bought two of the same lamp) are very good looking, but on one of them, the gooseneck was very slightly damaged right out of the box. It's not severe enough for most people to ever notice, but it's worth stating in case someone is extremely picky.

Have been looking for a reading and room lamp and this works perfectly. Great quality for the price.

I really like this lamp. The swing arm works very well, and it is easy to adjust. Putting it together was quick and easy, except that it required 2 people. It is solid and stable.
