Smartek Professional 1450-watt Garment Steamer

My first impression was not good. It looks really cheap. I doubted it would work at all. But it does work and the small size makes it easy to store. I bought this steamer thinking it would eliminate the need for an iron. NOT a chance. On knits it is perfect. It will take fold creases out of any sweater, t-shirt, polo etc. Works like a dream on drapy silks, scarves & ties. It is a struggle to get results on woven fabrics. Very time consuming on men's pants and you still need an iron to get a nice crease. Forget about it on men's dress shirts you'll never get a fresh pressed look. This steamer is a welcome addition to our laundry room. I'll use it often. I would recommend it but don't throw out your ironing board and spray starch.

I bought this steamer for my wedding. My groomsmen and I were wearing linen suits and after reading the great reviews the steamer received I decided to give it a try. Two major things: If you use "the convenient hanging hook" while steaming, the steamer will not work most of the time. The hose gets a kink and then there is no steam. In addition, it took longer then the traditional iron. We used it on all the suits but we decided it would be quicker and probably do a better job if we ironed our shirts. The good thing is the size. If you hate moving an ironing board around for space this is very compact and it does get the wrinkles out, it just takes patience.

I received my steamer and tried it today. It does work great on sweaters, delicate fabrics, rayon dresses, skirts, anything with sequins, beads, etc. I actually love the fact it sanitizes as well. I want to use it on my furniture (2 small dogs, kids) just to kill germs and get rid of smells without chemicals and such. My only BIG complaint is the hose length. Yes, it would be great for touch ups on drapes and curtains IF you can reach them. The hose really needs to be about 2 feet longer. I also thought the wrinkle release would go faster (one pass kind of thing) but you sometimes need to go over the area several times where an iron is a one pass deal. Otherwise, heats up fast and hot. I still need the iron for a crisp shirt and pants for my husband but works great on other fabrics.

Within the first month of using the product the extender broke. During the 3rd month the water tank melted. I could have just had a defective item but I would not recommend it based on my experience.
