My family does a lot of ironing, so I have lots of experience with irons. Over the years I have spent a lot on an iron (Rowenta), and found them to break down quickly, and the company disinterested in supporting and servicing the product. I have tried Sunbeam and Black and Decker irons, and found that they were fine, but also break down. This Singer iron seemed like a newer product and had decent reviews, so I decided to take a chance. It seems fine thus far, and has a smallish profile and easy to move around an ironing board. Also seems well balanced, which our last iron was not (prone to tipping over and falling).
How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Reasonably close. It was hard to tell much because the image was so small. I had looked at one in a store, so I did know ahead of time how it should look.
Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No defects that I could see.
Please tell us about the quality of the product. This is a solid steam iron. It heats up quickly and produces a nice amount of steam. The water well holds enough for a couple of items and is easy to access.
Intrigued by the Singer brand of sewing machines, I assumed that the iron would be just as good as the attributes featured on overstock.com. The iron worked no differently than any other brand and the vertical steam feature of this iron is a joke. I think Singer should re-analyze this product before putting it out there on the market if they want to stand out among the rest.
