for super bargains on a huge selection of home furnishings and decor.. . . to save a lot of frustration with awkward positioning of side rails, and later the cross slats. As for instructions, just use your brain and the drawings provided - the printed docs confused me with their broken English. Two cautions with the screws provided: [1] have a supply of 1.5-inch Phillips head wood screws to supplement what is provided, if you want to fasten all slats (not just every other one) to the side rails; and [2] be prepared to strip out the head on a few of the provided screws. They are cheap (but so are good replacements from that jar in your shop). Some slats may be a bit rough: slap some fiberglass tape over rough areas before plopping your bed down on the slats. This frame is 120 lbs. of nicely finished solid wood and metal. But it may take well over an hour from opening the three well-padded boxes to finally falling backward onto your new bed assembly.
This is exactly the type bed I was looking for. Platform, no headboard, no footboard. I bought the cordovan color which looks very impressive. The wood was solid wood and not pressboard which made this an even better value. It arrived in three long boxes. As far as putting it together I gave it a three star because of a couple frustrations. First off one of the eight phillips head bolts that holds the side rails to the end rails, did not actually have the slot in it. Rather than write overstock or the company and wait for a new bold I used a rotary tool and made a slit so I could use a screwdriver on it. Next there were not enough screws for all of the slats to be screwed down to the rails, I adjusted for this by not putting screws in the slats that already had the center bolt on them. And really, one does not need to put screws in any of the slats (just a preference really- as once the mattress is down the slats won't move anyhow) And I did have someone help me put this together, and it looks like you could do it yourself, but it would be a pain. Having a second set of hand helped out tremendously. I bought this bed and the 8" memory foam mattress. I have a great looking bed set up now, exactly the style I was looking for. Looks like I spend huge bucks. I would completely reccommend this bed. And one other thought. This is relatively close to the ground (which I like-and fits in with the look), but certainly lower than most other beds I have had.
We ordered three of these beds, two twins and a queen for our children. They are easy to assemble. However, one had a crack running down the leg of the bed. It was not easy to notice at first but once you sign for the product it is very hard to send back to O. We had to have this bed fixed, therefore, not making the savings worth it. If you order this bed make the delivery people wait while you check out the furniture so you can send it back. It is their job to wait.
The bed was purchased for an oddly shaped bedroom in a dormer space with angled ceilings. The packages arrived promptly, and I was able to assembly everything in a little over an hour. Assembly was easy and straightforward. The only glitch was as follows: along the bottom of the bed are 14 horizontal slats that support the mattress, and they are all connected with two pieces of nylon webbing, and a couple of the boards came unstapled from the webbing. It was not a big deal as a staple gun solved the problem in about 30 seconds. The slats are numerous and supportive. Something not mentioned in the description of the product, as I remember it, was the important fact that there are two hidden legs that support the middle of the mattress. The legs attach to the middle of the slats giving great support, and preventing any sag in the mattress. It's comfortable, and looks good.
I was excited to receive our new bed--and so fast! The assembly instructions recommend two people, but I was able to put the bed together by myself. I was impressed with the wood finish (Cordovan) and the bed itself is sturdy and well-made. It sits much lower than our mattress/boxspring combo, so that is taking some getting used too. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.
I have had this bed for years now and it has not let me down. It is great for a memory foam mattress.
This refers to the espresso version of the bad. This bed has both good and bad. The good is that it is compact, practical, simple and good looking. It has just enough space (about 8") under the bed for the rolling drawers that we used with our old bed. However the bad is the construction and finish. First, one of the facing edges has a large smear of glue (across about 50% of the surface) that will not come off without damaging the finish. Fortunately we are able to hide that by pushing it up against up at the headboard, but it does call into question the quality. Second, the slats of the bed are a very weak wood, with lots of knots (weaker than cheap pine). One of the slats snapped like a twig (no joke) when we were screwing the slats into place. Shipment was fairly quick (about 7 days) and everything was well packed to prevent damage. Assembly was average, no too hard, but not really that easy either. Lots and lots of screws. It does look good and it works well in our space.
Thanks to some helpful reviews pre-purchase, I had my automatic screwdriver ready, so assembly wasn't so much of a problem. (I did it myself!) The instructions really aren't that helpful, so be prepared to take one or two things apart and turn them over to do it again. Overall, though, it's a great bed, fairly easy to put together, and looks great at the end. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
The bed is really nice. The wood is of good quality. It was VERY easy to assemble, ecept that one of the holes was just a bit off center and I had to redrill the back to get the bolt to go in securely. I assembled this bed by myself, and Im NOT handy so to speak. Good bed for the price.
The bed is beautiful and the cordovan color is an good neutral (but darker) wood choice. This is an excellent choice for someone who wants a bed without a headboard, but wants more character and sophistication than a traditional metal bedframe or "boxy" platform bed. We're using it with both a mattress and box spring so it's quite "Princess and the Pea-looking," but it would be very comfortable with a top mattress only. The bed arrives in three boxes and while the instructions were not well-written, the illustrations were sufficient. I'd recommend that two people work together to center the slats and sides before actually fastening the screws.
