The one star reviewer is an idiot. Yes, its particle board, hence the $330 price tag. If you understand what you are buying, I think this is a great buy on a great looking desk. I've had mine for over a year now and its held up wonderfully. We have gotten many compliments from people who love it. Its very easy to assemble and I think it looks nicer than any other particle board desk you're going to find. Looks like real wood at most glances. If you're looking for a nice desk for under $500 this is a great bet.
The style is right, its sturdy, and I was even able to move the drawers from right side to left side (but it leaves a visible hole in metal frame, no big deal). Here's the PROBLEM.... nowhere in the description does it mention the faux wood laminate finish is TEXTURED. so this means I cannot use the desk surface for writing on thin papers, drawing, or any other detailed design work without a pad underneath. This small but MAJOR detail makes me give this 2 stars - mostly because I cannot return this item since it is completely open and assembled before I truly realized that a LAMINATE on top of PARTICLE BOARD for a WRITING DESK is TEXTURED. Really!?
This office desk offers a lot of real estate. It is made of particle board, but it's good quality and what you could reasonably expect at this price. The instruction manual isn't primarily in English, and some of the instructions are unclear. Building it took a few hours, including a few mis-steps and redoing a few things. Overall, it's a good-quality piece of furniture that should be suitable for most.
Took me about two hours to unpackage and set this beast of a desk up. I like a lot of open desk space and this one has just that. It is a lot more solid than I was anticipating as well. Definitely worth every penny. Only gripe is the cross bar that holds the drawers up is kind of in a weird spot.
