I bought this for my daughters room. I read the directions before I did anything and it said it could take up to 72 hours before it completely unfolds to its original shape. I am now on day 5 and the mattress is half unfolded and doesn't seem to be changing at all. I now have to go through the hassle and send this junk back. I wish I would of listen to my gut and not order this. Really shocked at all the positive reviews this thing got. Learned my lesson, will never order a mattress online again....Read More

I bought this for my husband for in our camper and he likes it better than his temper pedic that he has at home. Great value 100% satisfaction from order to receipt of mattress! Thanks Overstock!Read More
I purchased this mattress to replace a cheap innerspring mattress purchased for use in an infrequently used guest room. However, I was sleeping on the innerspring mattress more than I could handle, so it had to go. In its place I purchased this Serta 12" Memory Foam Mattress. After searching local mattress shops who want to screw you over with overpriced mattresses of questionable quality, I searched Overstock and found this mattress. Fits my needs perfectly. Thick and comfortable, I can't wait to crawl into it at the end of my 12 hours at work. The price was reasonable as was the shipping...***. This is a purchase I would make again, and plan on doing just that when I'm able to get a bigger place so I can have a queen bed. This will then go into the guest room. My French Bulldog and I LOVE it.Read More
My 13 year old needed a new mattress, and this was kind of a shot in the dark. He wanted a memory foam, but I knew I couldn't afford a big store brand ( you know who I'm talking about). Tried this, had great reviews, and they are right! Great value, he's had it about 2 months and loves it. My husband wants one for us now. It came in just a few days and was very easy to set up, although I did need help to move it in, it was kind of heavy. It came up to full size in a few hours. Buy one! You will not regret it!Read More

The reviews for this item are anything from very soft to very firm. Is this meant to be a firm, medium or soft mattress?
Firm, but not too firm. I'd say a medium-firm.
For a normal weight person it is firm.
what is the weight of this matress by itself (not shipping weight)?
Hello farmerblue, I'm sorry shipping weight is the only weight we have. The shipping weight we have is 74 pounds. So with out packaging this is approximately 72 pounds. Have a great day!
Memory Foam Bed FAQs
Anyone who is looking for the ultimate in sleeping comfort will be hard pressed to find an option better than a memory foam bed. Getting a full night's sleep depends a lot on the support of your mattress, and memory foam mattresses offer luxurious, modern comfort. You may have questions about this material, as many people shopping for memory foam do. Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about memory foam beds, so you can shop for your new mattress with confidence.
Tips on Buying Foam Mattresses
Improving your mood can be as easy as investing in a memory foam mattress. These supportive mattresses cradle the body, alleviating the tossing and turning that keep you from getting a full night of sleep. You may not realize just how much interrupted sleep is costing you. If you find yourself feeling tired and drained even after getting eight hours of rest, it's time to look into purchasing a foam mattress. Before you start shopping, consider these tips on buying foam mattresses.
Top 5 Reasons for Buying an Air Mattress
Air mattresses aren't what they used to be. Nowadays, air mattresses offer a slew of sleep-inducing features, like pillow tops, memory foam mattress pads and even built in MP3s, vastly improving on their giant-sized, pool-toy predecessors. As features improve, air mattresses, also known as air beds, are becoming more and more popular and are being used for a number of different functions, even in place of regular mattresses. Keep reading to find out the top five ways that you can get the most out of your air mattress.
There are basically three common types of mattresses used today: spring mattresses, memory foam mattresses, inflatable mattresses and feather beds. Each type has its own benefits. A mattress pad is a less expensive way to add comfort to your bed than purchasing a whole new mattress. With that said, if your mattress is lumpy or saggy, a mattress topper probably won't make much difference. If it is good, though, you have many different choices in material, price, and comfort. Whatever you get, just make sure you purchase the right size for your bed frame. Take a look below to learn more about the best-selling mattresses on the market.
Best Pillow-top Mattresses for Back Pain
The key to a good night's sleep when you have chronic back pain is as simple as choosing a good pillow-top mattress. Choosing the best mattress involves knowledge of your personal needs and preferences. To get a comfortable night's sleep, start by choosing a pillow-top mattress made from the right materials for you. Next, choose your preferred thickness. Finally, have firm sleep support underneath the cushions of the pillow-top. Below, you'll learn the best pillow-top mattresses for back pain. Choose the materials: Pillow-top mattresses are made from a variety of materials, so choosing the one that is right for you can make all the difference in the world. People with muscle pain should consider down pillow-top mattresses, which provide a cocoon to sleep in. Those with back issues will generally prefer memory foam pillow-top mattresses, which conform to the body and offer consistent support to areas like the lower back. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's information regarding the recommended weight allowances for these types of pillow-tops. Consumers who are heavier than the recommendations may find that the pillow-top cushion compresses in uncomfortable ways, leaving the mattress lumpy. Determine the thickness: Pillow-top mattresses come in a variety of thicknesses, from just 2 inches to 8 or more inches deep. Like choosing the right materials for your pillow-top, choosing the right depth is vital to getting a good night's sleep. Thinner pillow-top mattresses will allow more of the support from the remainder of the mattress to come through and will not develop body indentations as pronounced as those in a deep pillow-top. Pillow-top mattresses that are too soft may fail to provide back support and cause an increase in back pain. However, deep pillow-top mattresses are excellent for customers who suffer from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain. Check the warranty: Just as you would with any other purchases of its size, check the warranty of your pillow-top mattress. Most manufacturers will provide limited, pro-rated replacement warranties for manufacturer's defects, and some will provide a "comfort guarantee." Others may have specific conditions that must be met in order to maintain the warranty, such as having a boxed spring by the same manufacturer. Take note of any special conditions for the warranty and keep the paperwork. View All Mattresses Back to Guides Directory View All Mattresses

Memory foam density, expressed in pounds per cubic foot, makes a big difference in the softness, durability, support, and price of your mattress.
