Overall, I am happy with the purchase of this desk. I find the quality fair for the price, however I wish the drawers were a bit more sturdy. The desk does look great though, and it has really helped with the organization and hiding of many miscellaneous items. We have it at the end of our entryway, in a corner between the kitchen and family room. I assembled this desk by myself in 8 hours. The directions were easy to follow, it just took long because it was a tedious process that included LOTS of parts. In the end I recommend the product , and am happy that I did not spent two to five times more for a pre-assembled secretary desk from a local furniture store. I am also happy with Overstock - shipping was timely and all of the pieces arrived in proper condition.

I ordered this desk for my daughter's room last year. My husband spent five hours putting it together. It looks nice, much as in the picture, but the quality is abysmal. It's really a piece of junk. The drawers are so flimsy you can hardly put anything in them or they fall apart. The front of the drawers are always falling partly off. This is truly the worst piece of furniture I have ever bought. You might as well just throw your money in the garbage and skip the long assembly process, because you will be disappointed with the result. Better yet, buy a different desk!

My adult son and I thought that we could have the assembly of this desk completed in an hour. Boy, were we wrong! It took the two of us almost two and a half hours and then I finished by completing the drawers for an additional hour. The instructions were not easy to understand and we were confused as to which part was which.Having said that I am happy with the size and appearance. I did find that if you open one of the drawers with the front open then you risk the chance of the desk falling over. So balance is necessary . Basically, you get what you pay for.

This desk is a great buy. I had a hard time finding a black desk that would fit into my family room decor and this fits perfectly. I can even put my lap top in it. The drawers are great and the hardware on the drawers are very attractive. The only fault I found was putting it together. It was not an easy task. Overall, it is a very nice desk and a great buy.

We've been shopping for a mail desk for years (literally) and finally chose this one. It arrived quickly and I started putting it together shortly thereafter. It went together rather easily, but like any piece of "assembly required" furniture, patience is sometimes the best tool to have at your disposal. I made sure I had everything I needed close by and carefully grouped all the parts together. I took my time and it went together without a problem. I do wish the drawers were a little more stable, but otherwise it's a very attractive and useful piece of furniture.

The item description should have said that FULL ASSEMBLY was required!!! The entire desk came in a flat box. Nothing was even partially put together. The metal parts that allow the drawers to slide had to be attached to the sides of the drawers. If I had known it would be so difficult and time consuming to assemble, I would have bought the product elswhere.

It's a wonderful desk, I love it! Putting it together was a bit frustrating because the parts were not labeled. If you have any experience in assembling this type of furniture, you can figure it out. But in spite of it, it's worth it.

One of the side panels had some weakness in it that caused it to crack when the hardware was inserted. We were able to repair it but shouln't have had to.

I'm 57 years old and have had the opportunity to put together all types of furniture, bought online and from brick & mortar discount chains as well. The company that built the parts & pieces for this desk really have their act together. All parts and pieces were accounted for, with many having spare parts. The assembly, even for a veteran assembler like me was a little daunting at times and the instructions were not for the novice, but with a little perserverance I believe anyone can assemble this lovely desk. I did it for my Mother-in-law and she was very pleased (as I was) with the outcome. Would buy it again in a heartbeat, but I'd let someone else put the next one together! LOL

The size is perfect, fits just right in a small space, looks great when finished. Took me a long time to put together, and I was greatful to have power tools. The material is only fair, the drawers cannot hold very hearvy materials, however, for my use it is OK. I really love the finished look.. The pull down top did not have a drawer pull, so I did get one at the hardware store and put it on. I would still recommend this item if you have a space problem. I do not believe it would be good for children to use, I do not feel it would stand up to too much overuse.

when you first open the boxes it looks like a lot! well it is, but you have to have patience. some of my front pieces came with scratches on them. this took about 4 hours to put together. it was a bit of a challenge but I love the desk now that its all finished. for the price its a good deal.

Desk definitely serves it's purpose to eliminate clutter of bills and paperwork. Quality is a bit "cheap" but once it was all put together and does look nice,

It is a perfect fit for our daughter's room, it is a great size for her. Assembly is a bit long like most things that require assembly, some of the directions didn't quite match up for the drawer assembly so we had to make due. Overall great value and a unique size that fit well for our needs.

This desk is just what I was looking for in my kitchen! I love it. It hides all the bills and papers I had on my table and it is a great addition to my furniture. I love it! It is made nice and easy to put together. Great product and I definately would recommend this if you are looking for a secretary desk! the only thing I dont like is that my laptop doesnt fit in the top part. If you are looking for this, you might want to check the measurements. I have a 15" screen laptop and it doesnt fit so that I can close the top section but that isnt the furnitures fault...

I bought this desk over a year ago and I really don't like it. First and foremost the directions stink, I am a mechanic on jets and so is my boyfriend and between the two of us we got it together, that is until we ran out of the set screws that we needed to put in the drawer rails. We figured that we could find something to sub for it and no luck, So now a year later, we still have no drawers, we just gave up on the darn thing and now we are looking for something better. The size of the piece is so perfect and the look would have been just right for my small space, I just wish it would have been built better. By the way now the edge of the desk is wearing away so the black paint has rubbed off and you can see the very fashionable cardboard like material it is actually made out of. I am usually very impressed with my overstock buys, but not this time.

Yes, it had many parts but was easy to assemble, looks better than I expected, and is a good deal for the price. Be careful when you take it out of the box - put the pieces on soft towels or such and you may eliminate the nicks and scratches.

this is a great piece of furnature that suited my needs perfectly when I was not able to find it anyplace else for a reasonable price. Negatives was that the piece was a lil on the diffifcult side to assemble.

I LOOKED AT MANY DESKS AND THIS WAS PERFECT FOR MY KITCHEN. THE SIZE, COLOR AND DRAWERS ARE PERFECT. I USE IT EVERY DAY.

It was a little difficult to assemble but was well worth it. The black finish goes well with my other furniture and looks beautiful in my den.
