My grandma bought these dishes for my fiance and I last Christmas when we moved into our own place. We absolutely love them. They are cool looking... we always get comments on them and they are so durable. I just purchased the canister set and butter dish with Salt and Pepper shakers! Love love love them!
My set came with one broken plate (replaced very quickly, Thank you OS), so I got a look at it in cross-section ;) I feel that it strikes a nice balance between durability and lightness as well as being stylish/classy but still comfortable for everyday use. The glazes have a subtle variability that lends character, but are uniform enough to be similar from set to set and piece to piece. There are several unglazed spots on the edges and outer surfaces of my sets (pinhead or smaller and none on the eating surfaces) that some will feel lend character, but others might see as a flaw. For about $10 a set more than department store "basic" plates these are a huge step up in both quality and style!
