I was afraid that they would be too metallic, but they are not. Just a touch of sparkle. Love them.

If there was a rating lower than 1, this stuff would get it. Don't waist your money on any of the Sango colors. I purchased it elsewhere in 2004--dinnerware, baking dishes, serving pieces, etc. I loved it when I got it but quickly realized the bakeware wasn't fired properly as it broke easily. Then I saw some of the Advacado and it was so full of black marks I wouldn't even use it. Next I saw my dinnerware exhibiting the same black marks. Finally, I threw away all my coffee mugs because the handles would crumble in my hands--love coffee and shattered glass all over the floor. I tried to contact the manufacturer and got no response. For a bit more, I shopped around and got real china--fiestaware, much happier.
In person, these dishes have an almost handmade look to them; they are artsy and modern, reminiscient of 60's modernist potter. Much deeper in tone and color than shown. A few pieces have little nicks, but they are minor; overall a great purchase.
