    I love the look of these dishes but they are VERY oversized! The dinner plates do not fit in my kitchen cabinets! The soup bowls are the biggest I've ever seen in a set.

  • Too big for cabinets & dishwasher

    Just built new house. So far as I know the upper cabinets are standard size. That means 11-1/4" from back to front interior cabinet measurements. These plates are 11-1/2". They also do not fit in our new Kenmore Elite dishwasher. Disbelievingly, we packed them up for return. Meanwhile we have read this is becoming more and more of a problem as plates have gotten bigger from 9" or so in the 1950s to 11 to 12 inches today. Measure before you order. The actual product wasn't so bad. Much greener than I'd anticipated. The 'black' look comes mostly from the edging on the plates. It's actually a very dark brown that kind of overlays the 'greenish black' glaze that covers the bowls & mugs. This border is not on everything, so some things are the greenish color entirely; plates & salad plates have the border. Both look nice, but I'd have preferred more uniformity. The bowls are big also. SOme may like; some may not. We'd have preferred smaller, but at least we knew that going in. Never dreamed the plates would be to large for modern dishwasher (and cabinets)

    These dishes actually look better than the pictures. They are substantial and attractive. The bowl is rather large--hard to tell from the photo. It is ideal for an everyday set of dishes.
