I didn't purchase mine through Overstock.com but I did purchase one of these about 7 years ago from the two men who invented this clever device. Thus, I felt it would be appropriate for me to leave a review on this item. It was a wonderful security feature which enabled us to view who was on the other side of the door without trying to look through some tiny little peephole. It gave a superb view and you could practically see the entire person if not entirely. All of our friends and neighbors remarked how cool they thought it was and wanted to know where they could purchase one themselves. I highly recommend this to anyone seeking something exceptionally better than the old-fashioned little peephole. We sold the house that had that in it and we miss having it! I think I will definitely have to purchase one through Overstock.com for our present home. Note: You will have to cut a hole in your present door to have this installed. We were fortunate at the time to have the fellas (the inventors of the device) who sold it to us also install it for us. I remember they gave us a deal at $50 for the device and with installation included.
This is a great product. I wanted to protect employees entering from outside the building from being struck by a suddenly opening door. Employees on the inside can now see a very large image of everything within ten feet in 3 directions prior to opening the door. It also provides great security prior to opening the door to knocking visitiors. The images are clear and fairly sharp.
much more secure than the normal door view device. Cannot tell from outside that person inside is using the viewer and you get a very large view of what is outside your door. The most difficult part of installing the viewer is finding the 2 1/8" hole saw. I ended up using a forstner bit instead.
I had no problem installing it in a steel door. Make sure you get a high quality hole saw. Visibility was good during the day, not that great at night, but still usable. I am very satisfied with this product.
Product is exactly what it says. Gives a much better door eye view to see who is at your door.
I've had this item before and this one is replaceing the one that was on my door before the door was replaced. This is the best for those whe live in an apartment/condo where you cannot see out the door or run to a window to look who is knocking. You can see very clearly who it is from far away.
Fairly easy to install. I'm not very handy, and it took me about a half hour. Make sure you have the correct size (2 1/8") hole saw. They sell them at hardware stores for about $10-$15 (I wish one came with the peephole). The peephole gives you a nice, big image. In daylight, the image is excellent. At night, however, you'll need one or two really bright lights on to be able to make out the image. Remember, it's actually a camera... not a true peephole. So, the image is bouncing off a mirror before it gets to your eyes. Therefore, everything that's on the left on the screen is actually on the right outside your door. Also, if you install it too high up on your door, you'll have trouble seeing shorter visitors (unless they step back far enough to come into view). Overall, it's a good product. I'm glad I got it.
The first one I purchased from them was defective. Without my initiating it, they sent a second one which works fine. My suggestion is to mount this at eye level for best picture.
INSTALLED ON AN OUTSIDE DOOR.... YOU WILL NEED A SPCIAL SIZE HOLE SAW THAT COST NEARLY AS MUCH AS THE PEEPHOLE...WORKS GREAT IN DAYLIGHT... NOT SO GOOD AT NIGHT EVEN WITH AN OUTSIDE LIGHT.
I purchased this peep hole for use in my windowless garage door and am very pleased. From the inside it looks like a large post card picture. It was easy to install and from the outside it looks like a lock device.
It really was quick to install and it works great. I can see clear across the lawn to the street in front of the houose. One quibble...the view is not so great at night and I have a porch light and a street light across the street. Well worth the price even then.
SafetyVue Giant Peephole for Home Security is a great product. However details should state that the image viewed appears like a mirror image due to the optics. That being said, it is a lot better than the typical peep hole...
I already had an odd oversized peep hole that I was trying to cover up, but this turned out really nifty on it's own right. image is clear, can be seen from a distance and installation was dead simple. Great value.
This thing is awesome. Now I can see who is at the door without pressing my face up against some puny peephole. My neighbors are all curious and ask me about it. It is a real conversation piece. Reading the other reviews on this really helped and one of them mentioned that 7 years ago she had one installed for $50. I am actually debating buying a bunch and then going out to install some for my neighbors and making an extra buck on the weekend from it. It only took me 10 minutes to install mine. Thanks Overstock!
Awesome product, cannot see in, but have a great view of the outdoors. So much so that my cats even stare at it to look outdoors. I recommend that when you install it with a previous peeephole, place the top of the new hole with the top of the existing hole, this will put it at optimum viewing level.
I bought this for a house we are remodeling for my mother-in-law who has vision problems. It gives such a superior veiw of the whole porch and driveway area I bought more of them for my married children. The guys working on the house were so impressed they had me give them in information so they could order one.
