I had to keep these lamps because I had a time constraint and wasn't able to wait around for a replacement. It's not that they're awful, but I was disappointed in opening up the shipping box. The lamps are a lot lighter than they look in the photo--almost a robin's egg blue. So they look more pastel than the rich hue I was expecting. I suppose they might qualify as "marine blue", but it's a stretch. Also the "cream" shades are practically white. Actually, I think they ARE white. That's what the label indicated on the shades when I received them, but Overstock claims they are "cream". That didn't work so well for my decor, either. The lamps overall are nice, but I was expecting something different. Especially for the price and the expedited shipping I paid for. I don't know...it just left me feeling like I could have bought something nicer and cheaper elsewhere. Finally, this is a minor point, but the base is not level. It seems intentional, but why? One side of the round base is higher than the opposite side. This would be okay if the lamp were situated on a corner table or against the wall where one side would be visible more than another, but on a central table or location where there is no "back" or "front" (i.e., the lamp can be viewed from all angles), it just looks weird, as if the lamp were defective/uneven. Not thrilled.
Upon opening the box we found one lamp shade was bent. This was not caused by the shipping company. The bent shade was inside the other shade for shipping that was not bent. This was sent with a defective shade from China. With the employment problems in America itís a shame we canít use labor here. In the state of Washington, our Governor wants to increase the minimum wage to fifteen dollars and cause more companies to have their products made in China with lower quality. Fortunately, the Overstock Company is excellent. They are having a new shade sent to us. We love the lamps and Overstock.com.
