Ordered this rug to get the herringbone pattern as it appeared more 'dressy' and refined for my living room. When it arrived, I first thought they'd sent the wrong rug as the weave was so open and course that the herringbone was not apparent. It also appeared to be woven from rope vs grass, and looked like knotted macramé instead of woven sisal. It was also very green as opposed to the wheat color depicted online. Having said that, it still works in my setting and reads well with my fabrics and my blonde stone fireplace....just a different look and courser feel to the feet. I do like the fact that the green border is a softer olive than the bright olive pictured online, and the border doesn't pop out as it would have if the grass were wheat colored. (I had called to see if the same rug were available in a tan border, to blend in better, so at least the blended border is a bonus!) For the money, it's a great buy and minus a few expected nubs and imperfections, it appears to be of good quality. The corners all lay flat and I expect the "roll ridges" to relax in a day or so. The rug is pliable enough to lie perfectly parallel to my hardwood floors seams. One further note, it was advertised as having a canvas backing vs latex, but mine came with a synthetic spun fiber with latex "dots" in a fairly tight grid pattern to prevent slipping, so the non-slip rug pad is unnecessary.
I bought this because I could not stand the sound of my dog constantly walking with his nails on our hardwood floor while I try to sleep at night. Price and size as the deciding factor. The style looked good in the picture too. I read the warnings in the other reviews that it is not soft at all and bought it anyway. I'm very glad I did. Despite not being soft in the least bit what so ever, it is a pure pleasure for me to to stand and walk on barefoot. It feels like a therapeutic foot massage and connecting to Mother Earth at the same time. It's not as pleasurable with socks on. I find myself taking my shoes and socks off more often just to have the pleasure of walking on it. It's very effective at silencing the sound of the dog walking on the floor, which is why I bought it. The downside is that I no longer hear his special please open the door because I really have to go tap dance and last night he poohed on the rug. Once I go the big pieces off and started scrubbing, I had a hard time distinguishing between the color of his feces and the color of some of the fibers of the rug. Admittedly, I was scrubbing to the light of a flashlight so I wouldn't wake up my wife. Today the rug looks and smells fine. I have not owned the rug long enough to comment on upkeep and longevity but if I get a few years out of it I would replace it with the same one. I like it. The rug isn't perfect and has little pieces of grass poking out here and there but I think that's to be expected of a natural fiber rug. I don't see how it can have the perfect finish of a machine made synthetic rug but I don't expect it to. I like it for what it is, not for what it isn't.
I have nothing against the rug. It works fine for the area we wanted it for. We had a very difficult time, however, keeping it from rolling back up. We had to put furniture on the sides and ends to keep it in place. It wasn't easy to keep the rug in place during the holiday dinner. We had a buffet out in the sunroom and the rug kept curling up. It is now much better. We're going to be happy with it, I think.

The rug came and was packaged in a way that allowed me, alone, to move it into place and I appreciated that. The rug was better than advertised as far as color and trim. I felt it was a great bargain!

I loved the look of this rug but it was much too rough for us. We don't usually wear shoes in the house and it was uncomfortable. We returned it for a similar sisal rug which we love! It did have a hay-like smell but that didn't bother us. It would be a great purchase if you don't mind the texture.
I'd purchased a rug of this type a couple of years ago and returned it due to a bad smell and had given up on the idea of an "islandy" motiff but decided to check again. Read the reviews and took a chance given Overstock's great return policy. Rug had a slightly musky smell when opened but quickly disappated and settled into the smell of nice tea - which is what I had read on one of the reviews. I actually took a chance on this rug due to reading the reviews. This has a great look and the only negative is that it is a bit rough on bare feet - but I treat it like my reflexology appointment and think of it as stimulating.
I ordered this rug with some hesitancy as a rug is a bit more difficult to return. However, I was able to unwrap and roll out myself because of the easy packaging and I LOVE the way it looks. I am using it in my den where the regular carpet is in bad shape and no money to replace it for now. It gave a whole new look to the room and I was very pleased. I do not find it that hard on my bare feet at all and see no problems with nicks from the dog's claws either. I am thinking of buying another now.
This is a nice rug with an overall green hue to it. The weave is looser and larger than the picture shows and is a little knobby on the feet but it is a seagrass rug afterall. It has that wonderful smell and looks gorgeous. A good value for the money.
