I was surprised when the rug arrived and the red portion is not typical cut pile like the rest of the rug. Instead, it is a shiney material that is loop rather than cut and sits lower than the rest of the pile. Loop pile scares me as it can catch and pull. I will not use the rug where I had intended but will not return it either. It is striking, just not what I perceived and I would not have ordered it had I known the pile was not all the same.

Very plush & soft to walk on. I love the design. Basically the only downside is this: these shed somewhat early on & then it stops. So I was vaccuming little black rug hairs for a few weeks. The rugs do not show any "baldness" or patches where the little fibers come off, so go figure?
This gorgeous rug is significantly more beautiful, thick, and lucious than it is described. I'm thrilled with it. I have a newly designed bathroom in white, with red walls, and black accents. This rug is so soft to walk on barefoot it's just luxurious. The red pops beautifully, but it's not gauche. This rug is sublime. I HIGHLY recommend it..
I bought this runner for my inside deck area as a companion to the round version of this rug which I use in my livingroom. Both are very dramatic and modern. The black is very black. The red is a cherry red, and all the circles are the same red. One word of caution: if you have a pet, the black really shows the pet hairs -- my indoor cats love to "sharpen" their paws on the red circles because they are made of stiff and tight loops. It's a really neat carpet: an inch thick, solid weave, cushiony, and dramatic!
