BUY WITH CONFIDENCE. I was hesitant to buy online but it was fine. Heavy, thick rug made in Pakistan. If you want muted colors pick another rug because this one has bold colorS...black, dark red, sage, gold, beige. Dark red around the edges. Take the time to fix up the rug when it arrives. First, I invested in a $10 can of carpet Scotchguard, used the whole can and let it dry overnight to keep dirt and damage to a minimum. Second, vacuumed repeatedly with a rotary beater attachment until rug stopped filling up bags with fluff. My electrolux picked up 21/3 bags of fluff and that was about it. No big deal since shedding is expected with a new rug. Just keep vacuuming until no more fluff comes up and it's ready to go. Rug goes great with modern furniture and adds warmth and character to the room. I'm very pleased. Great value.Read More
I have waited a year before reviewing this product because I wanted to "live" with the rug for a while before I could really know if I were happy with it. Well, I am very happy! It is true that you will be doing a lot of vacuuming of this rug for a few months. It gets MUCH better over time and eventully the shedding will cease. This is in our dining room AND we have two medium sized dogs. Food, dog hair, drinks--you name it--have been spilled on it and I have NEVER had a problem cleaning it up. The colors are bright and crisp and it is a true wine/burgundy color. The texture is soft and over time we bought a pad for under it...definitely buy a pad for these rugs because the pad not only lengthens the life of your rug, it also keeps it from slipping on hardwood floors, and it makes it even more plush when you walk. I am very happy a year later and would absolutely recommend it to anyone out there contemplating a purchase! :-)Read More
We are very please with the rug. It is dense and rich looking and will wear well. We decided not to use a rug pad with it because it is thick enough and well anchored by furniture. The colors are very true to those pictured. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for quality at a reasonable price.Read More
What I hate about this rug is it loses so many fibers when I vacuume it that it clogs my vacuume cleaner. I don't know if it's a defect and that's why it's on Overstock.com, but it's a real bummer trying to vacuume it. It leaves little bunches of wool fibers all over itself. If that won't bother you, then it's a great deal.Read More
The rug is just a bit smaller than the standard 8 by 10 rugs on the market, but the sizing indicated is accurate. The colors are rich and beautiful with lovely contrast hues in light blue and beige. The main colors--red, black, and green--will pick up a spectrum of other colors in your room. The cotton backing is sturdy and well made. The real knockout is the dense plush of the wool--it has a nice cushion and feel which compares well with rugs sold for much more. We used ours with a cushioned pad in the dining room and love the look on our red cedar floors--the rug seemed to pull the whole room together. The rug arrived on time, was packaged well, and was easy to unroll and set up.Read More
I love this rug. I bought two in different sizes for my son's adjoining living room and dining alcove. The rug is thick and luxurious. The color and design are elegant and the rug didn't shed much when vacuumed.Read More
This rug is the best rug for the value I have ever seen-the quality is top-notch, the backing is soft cotton and the pile is wool, making it excellent for our shellac wood floors in our 1912 house. Couldn't have found a better product.Read More
We lived overseas for many years and have purchased a number of handmade wool oriental carpets. We also purchased jute rugs in Bangladesh. The jute rugs were almost as beautiful as the wool rugs and felt similar on the feet when new. The major difference is that our wool rugs never shed. The jute rugs shed and shed and shed. I should have picked up from the other reviews about these rugs shedding that something was not quite right as wool rugs just do not shed like people were saying these rugs were doing. Once the rug arrived and I started vacuuming the bag filled up immediately. When I examined the fibers, they look just like the fibers I use to vacuum out of the jute rugs I use to have (yes, I finally got rid of them as I just could not stand all the shedding!) I am only going by experience and, obviously, have not had an analysis done on the fibers but it certainly has the characteristics of a jute rug rather than a wool one. Since the fibers that shed the most are the red and back ones, the lighter areas may actually be wool. I just don't know. I would like to order more rugs from Overstock but I don't feel comfortable trusting that they will be 100% wool after this experience. The rug is absolutely beautiful and the colors are perfect for my husband's office so we will keep it for the time being but will probably be looking locally for a 100% wool rug that does not shed.Read More
