After I bought this rug about 6 months ago and put it on the floor, I was delighted. It looked just beautiful. After about a month, I noticed there was a white powdery residue under the rug. It continued to get worse. I had to clean it up all the time. A few weeks ago I kept smelling what seemed like dirty socks. After doing some research, I found that poor quality rugs that are Hand Tufted tend to do this. Hand Tufted means the fibers were glued on with usually a Latex glue. The glue breaks down and turns to powder. If the glue has soured, it smells like dirty socks. There is no way to fix this. You either have to get rid of the rug or live with it. I am getting rid of it because I don't want my cats, or myself, ingesting the latex glue powder. Too bad, it was a beautiful rug.
As another reviewer noted, see the smaller version of this rug to get a better sense of the actual colors, which are, as everyone mentions, more green than gold. Our carpet has shed horribly now for three weeks -- tiny threads that cover our clothes and have floated throughout the house. Multiple passes with the Dyson and we're still having issues. Also, my infant seems to be allergic to it -- can't sit on it unclothed or she breaks out in welts all over her body. Odd. Still, a great deal and a lovely carpet for the price, assuming it stops shedding. We have purchased other wool rugs from Overstock with great success, and although I like this one, I'm disappointed with the issues relative to previous experiences.
I loved the warm gold in the picture for this item. So I was SHOCKED and initially disappointed with what arrived on my doorstep. In a few days I learned to live with this unexpected rug. I gave it 3 stars because the quality and price are good. If it had been as pictured I could have given the entire 5 stars. My guess is that they have several color combinations of these large panel rugs and the shipping guy rolls the dice and decides which color to send out that day. So if you are a gambling person, go for it! I would call the overriding colors of my rug olive green and cream. It has a touch of gold here and there and a touch of burgundy here and there.
This is a good price for a thick wool rug. I ended up returning it (thank you Overstock for making it so easy!) as it wasn't brown enough (turned out more goldish/greenish). I love Overstock as they have such a beautiful policy on returns, and we all know how fabulous the prices are.
Very thick and heavy. The colors are very muted, very light, main color is faded light selery, no brown color as dominant, but some burgundy accent; very unattractive colors to compare to the picture displayed. Wish it would be goldish-olive, as shown. Beautiful design, have to admit, but the colors. I also bought Bakhtieri wool rug, that one is a gorgeous rug! Great customer servise. Love Overstock!
I struggled with purchasing a rug on line, (how will it look and feel) considering the cost of the purchase. The picture is not a true likeness in color, but the description that accompanied it is. Please read and believe what it says. Sage green permiates the entire rug with splashes of light gold, red and an afterthought of light blue. Thankfully the quality was excellent and felt quite plush on the feet.
After reading other reviews I was prepared for the rug to look more green rather than golden as represented in the pitcure so I was not disapointed once it arrived. It arrived in less than a week and is exactly as expected. The nap is super plush, colors are rich and subtle. We wanted an area rug to go under a large burgandy sectional and not compete with the rest of the room. If you want a rug that makes a statement, then you may want to reconsider as it is subtle in nature. We got a very thick pad to go under it as it is on a hardwood floor. Friends have commented how luxurious it feels under foot. The children are constantly lying on it and enjoy the plush texture, and we have even had a pet accident which cleaned up immediately without any staining what-so-ever. I would buy it again!
I was so nervous ordering this 13'6 x 9'6 rug sight unseen! To quell my fear I first ordered a runner (easier to return, by far), and liked it so much that I took the plunge and ordered the large rug. This is a gorgeous decorator piece. It completely updated my living room, and gives it an exotic, earthy feel. The people who designed this rug are true artisans. The colors, while muted, are subtly beautiful and work so well together. I was concerned that a panel design would cause an inclination to play hop scotch, but the panels not only vary in size, but shape and placement. I also purchased the 2'3 x 4, so I have three total. I am so happy with this choice and look forward to using it as an anchor in my decorating scheme for years to come.
We purchased the Handmade Classical Panel Wool Rug (9'6 x 13'6) for our family room to cover the wood floor and couldn't be happier. Do not hesitate in purchasing this rug! Top quality, very thick pile, no shedding, measurements are exact and the colors are gorgeous! If anything, I would say the colors are more vibrant than what shows on Overstock with primary color being sage green. This rug is much softer than expected for being wool and very warm, we could notice a difference immediately and my dogs love it! As far as customer service and delivery, I ordered on 4/13 and delivery was 4/15....wow! My rug arrived well packed and was a breeze to install on the rug pad.
