I bought this for under my dining room large area rug. It seemed like a good quality product and didn't have that 'plastic' smell out of the wrapping. For me, the problem was that it left waffle marks on my hardwood floor. Not good. I just had my whole floor refinished so I had to throw this somewhat pricey purchase away. Not a good purchase if you care about the condition of your floor once this is removed. I'm waiting on it's replacement now.
DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE WOODEN FLOORS! This product stains your floors. I'm afraid we are going to lose our security deposit because this product stained our floor with a checkered pattern. So awful!
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? yes
This is a high quality rug pad that is easy to work with...it can be cut with scissors if necessary to size to smaller rugs. More importantly, this rug pad is thin and lightweight so it doesn't add any bulk to thicker area rugs. The stated dimmensions are accurate.
I bought this along with a rug that was one inch longer thinking it would be a perfect fit. This pad turns out to be longer and not by a little but by 2-3 inches. So I had to roll the pad under on two sides for now. But it is definitely non slip so that is the pro.
This pad was sent to me because the beautiful rug did not have the cotton backing on it, like I thought. It is a great non-slip pad, and the rug that I purchased to use it with is so plush anyway, I don't need a lot of extra padding. It is wonderful, and, as always, Overstock was great to deal with.
This pad was so inexpensive, that I can't complain about it's quality. The only complaint would be that it didn't appear to be exactly 8x10 (we had to trim some to fit our 8x11 rug). If you are looking for something that gives padding and not just non-slip, I would pay more and make another choice!
When I opened the package I was about knocked over from the chemical smell and I'm not hypersensitive about those things. Put them outside and due to buckets of rain they stayed there for about a week. Smell gone now. Planning on using them on my deck - I thought since they were coated they wouldn't pick up too much water and they were significantly less expensive than the official outdoor pads as well as a little more cushiony looking. Not sure how well that will work out since they seemed to stay wet longer than I would have liked. A note of caution: I don't think the ad mentioned it but there is a warning on the label that they shouldn't be used on vinyl floors. I had a dog dish that had some non-skid coating on the bottom of it and it seriously and permanently discolored my kitchen floor so I take that seriously. DO NOT USE ON VINYL FLOORS. Having said that I only needed a 8 x 8 rug so I am using some of the leftover in my kitchen under the rug in front of my sink. What the heck the dog dish already did the floor in and I'll always have a rug at the sink anyway. It definitely added needed cushioning.
I purchased this rug pad to anchor a Safavieh 8'X10' rug. It was easy to unroll and align with the rug. Other reviewers warned that I would have to trim to size, and doing so was easy with regular kitchen shears. I took about an inch from 2 sides and used the trimmings to pad fragile housewares that have to be stored in boxes.
