Blew a fuse, smoky smell We live in a 19th century home and needed something for cooling. Once temperature got above 86 degrees of so the unit would trip the circuits. It did not trip the circuits once and blew out it's own fuse with smoky smell. I guess that's a safety feature but seems unsafe to me overall. The cooling was worse than my old 8000 BTU portable. Rather disappointing.

A nice little unit! This has proven to be a good little unit for use in our pop-up camper and as a dehumidifier in the basement. I'd have to say that the cooling capacity is good for small spaces, less than 150 square feet. Any larger and this will likely not work well. I've used it in air conditioning, auto and dehumidifier modes. With experimentation, all have worked well. In Auto mode, when the temperatures fall the fan will run or it switches to heat mode to maintain the thermostat setting you select on the unit. The instructions really need improvement to fully understand the drainage connections needed for each mode. I'm still trying to understand why there are three water drain ports on the back of the unit. Under air conditioning mode, I only hook a line up to the upper port and it does very well. I've drained very little water from the lowest port and none from the middle.
