- The snowmen have been built by the forest supervisors and children and spend all day standing frozen stiff in the garden, while the children deck them out with scarves and hats
- They stand stock-still and put up with all the children's pranks, but when darkness falls they wake up and live their own lives
- On this still evening the snowman family decides to go on an outing by sleigh
- They borrow the children's sleigh and make little Arthur comfortable in it
