Amazing Gadget!
from Ocean Springs, MS,  Jul 14, 2011

Bought this strainer to try to save time canning my spaghetti sauce. Actually knocked almost 2 full hours of prep time. And was alot less messy than the boil and peel method. Has several different attachments available to help with other fruits and vegetables (at an additional cost). Can't wait to get them and try them out. A great value and time saver for the price! Love it, love it, love it!

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Matched ask most exactly
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. The strainer works fabulous! It is easy to clean. Doesn't stay suctioned to countertop/table.
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? 100 % accurate.

Food Mill
 from IL,  Mar 8, 2011

Although I haven't used this yet, I am excited to have it. I am a gardener and I also am a cancer survivor. I want to be able to make my own tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes which I will freeze....so much better than buying canned goods from a store....no preservatives and I KNOW WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN MY TOMATO SAUCE!! I had read the reviews about people having difficulty putting this mill together but I found it easy to do. Product was shipped quickly!! Thank you Overstock.com!!!!

MMMM, Sauce
from Central Florida,  Feb 10, 2011

Love this sauce maker..... Manufacturer needs to make the assembly instructions a bit clearer.. Awesome product, Awesome results...... I gave 4 stars because assembly instructions were way off, took 20 minutes to assemble using the booklet, once I had it right it took me under 3 minutes to get it put together and set up and making tomato sauce... The saucer itself is a 5 star product....

Together Time
from Walla Walla, WA,  Oct 19, 2010

My 7-year old grandson and I have had a great time making applesauce with the Roma Food and Vegetable Strainer. I have used other food strainers but none was as easy to use as this one. My grandson can assemble and disassemble it by himself. He is also able to use the strainer to process the apples. It was such fun that he did the major part of making a box of apples into applesauce.

Food strainer
 from Indiana,  Oct 5, 2010

Product was just as promised. It was a little difficult to assemble the first time, but not a problem after that. It works great for baby food and preparing other foods for canning and freezing. Recomend this purchase to others.

 from ohio,  Aug 22, 2010

item does as described processed many tomatoes from home garden only negative the rubber base for counter suction is worthless but was able to use metal bracket that was enclosed to hold firmly to table/ seperates seeds and skin well and leaves good pulp best worked when run pulp through 2 times lots more juice /pulp for sauce

Makes Fast Work of Maters!
from Pittsburg, PA,  Aug 6, 2010

Every summer i plant too many tomoato plants and am stuck skinning and canning....this device quickly makes juice/puree and discards the skins and seeds with ease. You can do dozens of tomatoes in a few minutes. The only reason for 4 stars is that there are alot of pieces to take apart and clean once you are done!

Great mutipurpose tool.
from Boston, MA,  Jan 2, 2012

I’m new to canning and preserving. It is one of my methods to stretch my food dollars. The Roma Food Strainer made processing gallons of cinnamon applesauce painless so I had special gifts for my family members. My only criticism of the Roma Strainer is that neither the suction nor the C-clamp base was sufficient to keep the strainer attached to the counter; however, as with most things, duct tape fixed the problem. I’m sure there are appliances that process produce faster or easier, but for the price, the Roma can’t be beat.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Great match
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Generally great, but base did not adhere to counter
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? desciption was acurate

For the price, who can complain!
from Albuquereque, NM,  Dec 23, 2011

I have stone counters and the suction cup worked FANTASTIC so, all the nay-sayers had me concerned for no reason! Because of the large screen on the strainer, the tomato goes through quickly so you really do need to send the scraps through a second time for sure, and probably a third time, too. My only disappointment is that the piston that actually moves the pulp through the strainer doesn't go back far enough in the cyllinder so there is some product loss because of that. In the big picture, it's not that big a deal when you are dealing with large amounts of product. You won't get more for your money unless you go very expensive. So go for it!

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? The appearance of the product was exactly as it was represented
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. The product is well built with parts that should last and are easier to clean than my old tomato mill.
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Very accurate description of the product.

good tomato stariner
from Bay Area, CA,  Dec 17, 2011

Did a good job of straining ton of tomatoes from summer garden for making sauces for canning. It could be better in terms of ability to stay stable on the counter. Makes pureeing the tomato without seeds and skin a easy task.

Excellent strainer
from Sagamore Beach, MA,  Sep 23, 2011

Just started canning this year and began by blanching my tomatoes, peeling, de-seeding them cooking them. Took all day. I will never go back to doing it that way again with this machine. It couldn't have been easier. Cored the stem area of the tomatoe, cut it in half , put it thru the Roma and within minutes was preparing my sauce. It was a learning experience doing the other way, but its best to work smart then hard. Only bad thing I can say is the waste funnel snaps on easy but does not come off easy and we were afraid we would break it.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Didnt care what color it was as long as it worked
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Everything about this product is great except for the waste funnel.... Its plastic and we were not able to remove it once snapped on, afraid of it breaking
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Site decription is accurate

great for canning
 Oct 3, 2009

I just used this to make tomato sauce for canning and it saved so much time and effort. There is no need to pre-cook the tomatoes before using, it seperated all of the seeds, skins, and cores very nicely. Well worth purchasing!
