This bronze statue represents one of Auguste Rodin's most famous sculptures, The Thinker Statue.
Initially named the The Poet, The Thinker statue was intended to represent Dante himself at the top of the door reflecting on the scene below. However, we can speculate that Rodin thought of the figure in broader, more universal terms. The Thinker is depicted as a man in sober meditation battling with a powerful internal struggle. The unique pose with hand to the chin, right elbow to the left knee, and crouching position allows the statue to survey the work with a contemplative feel.

Customer Reviews
I was very pleased when I received this piece of art work -- it was larger than I had expected which makes the details show up all the more nicely. This statue would go anywhere - LR, study, or as a stand-alone showcase piece. Thanks, Overstock!

There is no assembly required, comes out of a well-packed box. Larger than I thought it would be, never having seen the original, so instead of sitting atop my bistro table it sits in the backyard on a short pedestal. Needless to say, weather resistant, also seems to withstand gale force winds, because of its own weight but also the base is wide. Beautiful sculpture, needless to say.

I just received this minutes ago and, with a quick inspection, it is, noticably, the most protectively-wrapped and packaged item ever received. It is a heavy piece which appears to be to scale and has such remarkable detail-- it is absolutely gorgeous! I agree, that it is worth the price. Extensive price comparisons for smaller pieces don't compare with the value, quality and detail of this piece. This is a Christmas gift but I may just need to get one for myself.

This is a beautiful sculpture. I had been looking for something like this to add to my decor and it is beautiful. It is a perfect replicate of the original and is a heavy piece. It's worth the money.
