I purchased this stool so that I can reach the top 2 cupboard levels in my kitchen/great room. I wanted something attractive, even furniture-like. Because the mahogany stain on the wooden stool was all that was available, I purchased that. It is a darker stain than my cabinets, dining room furniture, etc. It is also very heavy to move around for someone with arthritic hands. However, it fulfills my need--something attractive and functional that I can keep handy to my kitchen cabinets. The stain could have been applied a little better and any missed spots are very noticeable when the finish is dark mahogany. However, a touch-up pen takes care of that minor deficiency. I have another complaint for the manufacturer--why do you have to put sticky, stuck-on labels all over an item such as this? Removing the labels is a tedious job. Glue that facilitates easy removal--this is a product the world needs.
I've been looking for a nice little step ladder like this for a while. It's nicely finished and plenty sturdy. It's a little pricey, but I use it where it's seen a lot.
