I bought this Revere Ware 8-qt Dutch Oven for my parents after their 50-yr old one split down the side. They are so happy with this new pot. The picture on the website does not do it justice. I am glad to say that after all of these years, the quality of Revere Ware has not diminished. I would recommend this pot; you'll enjoy it for years.
I needed a sturdy stock pot for days when quadruple batches of pasta sauce, chili, soup, and other freezable meals would be made. I was excited when I saw the pot as it looked heavy, sturdy and shiny. The excitement went to disappointment in seconds when I lifted it - the lid is truly a lightweight and the pot itself isn't as heavy as I would have liked. I can't say how well it works as I haven't used it yet. I'm waiting for the disappointment to subside. Another drawback is that it isn't recommended to clean it in the dishwasher as it will lost its' shine and may develop rainbow hues. I remember the stockpots that Grandma had. Sturdy, heavy, well built. This doesn't begin to compare to those. And those were what I was trying to duplicate. Looks good, feels wimpy.
I can't rate durability as yet, but I have Revereware pots that are over 30 years old, so I am hopeful that this pot will last as well. So far, I am very happy with the performance and look of the pot, it cleans up beautifully.
