Resin Compound Roman Numeral Umbrella Stand

I live in Southern California where the summers are hot and the Santa Ana winds strong. I keep my wind resistant umbrella in a partially protected area on my patio year round and need an umbrella base that will keep it secure during our windy days. I have had the base for one month now and feel confident that it is heavy enough for a strong wind, however If I were to place it in an unprotected area I would purchase a cement base. I purchased the black base and I am very pleased with the resin not leaving rust marks on my patio. I also wanted a solid base so I would not have to contend with leaves and dirt getting into the base.

I like the umbrella stand except for the fact, the rubber pole inserts that came with the stand, there was not a size for the umbrella I bought, all the rubber inserts were too small. I had to just place the pole in the stand but if it rains the water can get inside the pole stand.

I bought this particular stand because it was solid instead of having the cut outs. It easily fit with the umbrella I ordered, and has not moved in the wind! Last time I pressure washed my patio, I had a hard time moving my table with it under there. It is really heavy! I used a free shipping offer to avoid paying for all the weight. If you are looking for a heavy stand that will help keep your umbrella in place, this is a good product to pick.

we'd bought several stands since we have a big yard and live where it's very sunny. This was the best of the ones we'd bought--and have bought a 2nd one. It's heavy and sturdy enough for the winds we occasionally have, heavier than the cast iron. If you're going to screw it into the patio or something, the cast iron would work, but they also rust and leave stains.This resin compound is heavy enough, but not so heavy that I can't move it myself.I don't really know about durability. But, we've had one for over a year and it's still looking good.

Terracotta looks great. Can use it as a sun dial too! However why does such a low tech thing cost so much? Are they building the shipping (cuz it is heavy) into the price?
