chair seat broke straight through on first sit
Construction: during construction of the table, we had to use a saw since a key piece was not cut to fit correctly; this was not a big deal for us, but if you are not handy with tools, this might be a deal-breaker (assuming your table has the same defect). otherwise, the assembly went OK. Use: we had our first guests over last night, and one of the chair seat slats broke straight through when our guest (an average height, average weight male) sat down. pretty embarrassing for all involved. i'm not sure if it was just a defect on that one slat, or if we will be experiencing each seat breaking through over the next few weeks. Style: if it weren't for the above two unfortunate aspects of the experience, the set does look old and rustic, which is what were aiming for; the style is what we had in mind.

Disappointing
We were looking forward to this piece. It arrived in several boxes and requires significant assembly. The chairs seemed quite sturdy and it is an attractive set - appearing a bit more weathered than in the photos. I like that. 2 of the chairs arrived without hardware and Overstock was unable to supply replacements. They are reimbursing us for the required hardware but it we had to special order the necessary pieces and it was not possible to find the exact hardware with a matching finish. That isn't a deal breaker for us but it is certainly not what you expect when you spend significant money on an item. Then, after just a week or so, I noticed cracks developing in the boards on the edges of the tabletop- If they are not repaired the boards will split. Either way the appearance of the table will be affected. Overstock has agreed to pay for the cost of the repair but, still, not something you want to deal and certainly evidence of the questionable quality of this table.
