LIGHT MY FIRE I love this little set. I use it in a clay chiminea and it works great! It adds such great atmosphere to my outdoor area. It also keeps me from worrying about a wood fire on my deck. This way I have the best of both worlds. To stop the fire I simply put the lids on the gel cans. It could not be any easier. I might add that the cans also put out a little heat. On a chilly night or afternoon on the deck this is just what the doctor ordered.

Can I safely use these in a retro cone-shaped electric fireplace?

Thank you for your interest. The 310-Log Set is made to be used in an existing outdoor fire pit. The distributor suggests you contact an electrician to see about how to remove the electric portion from your existing fireplace and replacing it with the gel log set. Normally, this log set is purchased to put in one's fire bowls or outdoor fire pits that only use wood or charcoal. It is not known how to replace an electric fireplace with this log set. I am thinking about buying an outdoor log set for my 27" fire bowl. Is it personal preferance as to whether I should buy the Jr. Gel burning outdoor set or the larger version? While one is twice the height, it is almost half the width of the smaller one with not much difference in depth. I am not concerned about a big roaring fire, just an intimate glow with spouse or entertaining with another couple on a nice evening outside. Comments/Suggestions? Does this item still look realistic after normal use?

The Jr Gel burns for two hours while th larger version burns for three. Also, the flames will be much taller with the larger version.

If you use only part of the gel and want to re use the rest later, what is the best way to extinguish the flame and also, with normal use, how long before the finish on the logs wears off and can they be re treated? After extinquishing the flame, will the logs be hot to touch or only the cans? Thank you for your response.

If you would like to extinguish the flame before the fuel burns out, the lid of the can can be used to snuff out the flame by placing the lid on top with a pair of long tongs. After the flame is extinguished, both logs and cans will be very hot and we do not suggest moving or removing the log set or cans for up to 60 minutes. Also, if the log set is covered when left outdoors, there shouldn’t be any wear to the logs.

Yes, if you do not use all the gel in the Real Flame Gel Fuel 13-oz cans you can save the gel and use it later. I would not suggest leaving the item where it can get wet.
