SO MUCH WORK
FIRST OFF, IF YOU ARE BUYING THIS BED, MAKE SURE TO READ THE POLICY ABOUT OVERSIZED DELIVERY. THE COMPANY WAS GOING TO DELIVER IT TO MY APARTMENT ONLY IF I PAID AN EXTRA 80.00 BECAUSE I AM ON THE SECOND FLOOR. THE WONDERFUL REPRESENTATIVES AT OVERSTOCK RECTIFIED THE PROBLEM. SECOND, IF YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERT AT PUTTING THINGS TOGETHER, THIS IS NOT THE BED FOR YOU. I BOUGHT TWO AND EACH OF THEM TOOK ME AN ENTIRE DAY TO PUT TOGETHER. THERE WERE MISSING SCREWS AND PIECES TO TWO OF THE DRAWERS. ONCE PUT TOGETHER THE BED IS STURDY AND BEAUTIFUL.

Elegant and sturdy!
Great quality! The slat system is awesome. It has plastic holders that lock the pieces in place so you really don't have to worry about them moving or falling. I put it together by myself and it took a good 3.5 hours. The instructions are in pictures and you have to look at them for a minute to figure out what you're supposed to do. Mostly everything screws together which is nicer and sturdier than nailing things like most Ikea furniture. I WAS able to put it together by myself and I'm a short woman, so it's manageable if you don't have help. If you do, it's probably faster. I had to drill some holes in places to get it properly put together. For example, there are no holes in the leather faces for the drawers and you're expected to just screw into it by hand. If I didn't have an electric drill it would have been terrible. Also there weren't a couple of holes for the sliders on the drawers...but all and all, doing a little more work in the assembly part was an easy trade off for such a beautiful piece. Last of all, my biggest complaint is that it reeks of chemicals out of the box and needs a good week before the chemical smell is gone. Which is tough because you have to sleep in it and even after wiping it twice with cleaner, the chemical smells rubs off onto the sheets. Again, for me that was a fair trade off to get a gorgeous bed for $$$.

If you plan on putting this bed together yourself... re-think your plans. It will put any relationship to the test (friendship, boyfriend/girlfriend, marriage, parents, etc.). HIRE A HANDY MAN! I am very handy, and it took my boyfriend & I - 5 hours to assemble. If you still choose to do this on your own, be prepared. Make sure your drill is charged, and you have plenty of energy. It does come with one alan wrench, so if you have an extra, make sure you use it. The end result is great. The bed is gorgeous, and it doesn't have that "fake leather" look to it. Be mindful that the drawers are shallow fairly shallow (I am able to stack 3 pairs of folded jeans), but holds a lot. Good luck!
