I received this item so quickly it amazed me, especially since it was part of the 1 dollar shipping promotion. It does require assembly, but the directions are very easy to follow. Parts include a handy-dandy multi-purpose tool. My kit was missing one of the internal support hinges, but I called the manufacturer (whose number is included) and they were lovely to deal with and are shipping the missing part out today. I assembled the rest, sans missing part, in about an hour. Be careful not to overtighten the cam screws, because they need to stick up enough to be caught and latched by the cam locks. Also, don't worry about turning the cam locks "all the way" because it is only necessary to make sure they have grabbed on to the cam screws, whcih is about a one-quarter turn. Overtightening will make them snap off (experience from previous furniture assembly). I now have an absolutely gorgeous piece of warm wood furniture that rivals anything I have seen in Pottery Barn or Pier 1 catalogs, at about one third of their prices. My husband came home from work and was thrilled with this trunk table, he is totally convinced I am a brilliant shopper, and asked me to order the matching side table for his office. Once again, OVERSTOCK ROCKS!!!

Although the price is not as competitve as other rustic-style furniture stores currently having sales to move 2006 stock, the quality of the trunk is good. My husband loves the fact that the trunk is deep enough to put his knick-nacks in, yet tall and sturdy enough to kick his heels up on. My only hesitation for providing five stars was the trunk's pungent wood oil smell that permeated the livingroom for several days. As always, the delivery time and handling were great.

I bought 2 of these after having bought 3 of the end tables and loving them. By the time I got home from work, my husband had already put them together. He is thrilled with the purchase, as am I. The tables are really heavy and look really expensive, so I won't tell anyone how little I paid for mine. Thank you!

I found that this product was pretty easy to assemble. It did require about an hours worth of work and one part of the assembly would have been much easier with two people. The holes were not drilled quite properly for the top and it does not sit perfectly square. Overall, for the price I am quite satisfied. Even though the workmanship was lacking, it is almost unnoticable when completed and is still very sturdy.

Buying this trunk was a mistake. It is falling apart after only a couple of weeks. Buy this and You will be sorry like me.

Not the easiest to put together, def takes 2 people, had to order new hardware we broke one of the pieces easily. directions not as clear as they could be. table looks great once together, but be careful it easily dents and scratches. we have had it for 2 weeks and it looks like we have had it for 2 years. you cant even put a glass on it without a mark showing!

This coffe table is THE worst piece of furniture I have had the opportuniy to put together, its craftmanship is really bad, the Pine Wood is nowhere and the finish comes off almost by looking at it. It is made entirely of some cheap composite wood with a pine veneer. The screws used to secure the bases came off when I was tighten them! The quick locks that secure the table together are the same of those common to many "put it together by yourself" furniture, with the difference that these are made of some kind of cheap alloy and two of them broke when I was tightening them, by hand!!, the black screws that secure the black handles are very easy to scratch and remain visible when secured. Do not buy this table, it looks very nice in those pictures, and it seemed like a beautiful trunk but you will be sorry to find out it is so cheaply made. Gladly, the people at overstock.com are processing my return right now. I felt so relieved when I put it back into its box, it should go straight to a fireplace somewhere.

I purchased this along with two of the matching end tables and was pleasantly surprised by it's quality. For the price I honestly wasn't expecting the pieces to be so sturdy. They each took about an hour to assemble. Not too hard, but I did find the instructions lacking a bit, mostly diagrams with little written instruction. All the pre-drilled holes lined up perfectly and the hardware was a breeze too. I did have two of the round metal pieces break during assembly. But, they were easily replaced at a local hardware store and didn't delay finishing assembly before getting them either. All in all I am very happy with my purchase!

First of all, when I opened the box the styrofoam packing was broken and small sticky particles were not only covering every piece but got all over my living room. Some of the pieces were scratched upon arrival but at least all the hardware was there and the instructions were pretty good. After spending about a half hour vacuuming up the styrofoam I started the assembly. All the predrilled holes were lined up and the whole thing took about an hour. One major problem. The spring/hinges do not hold the top up, they only slow it from slamming down. So if you're putting something inside you have to hold the top with one hand. It's still a great looking piece for the price paid.

the color was exactly what i expected and the quality of the wood was pretty good too. pretty easy to assemble as long as you read the directions thoroughly before completely assembling.

This product was fairly simple to put together but I didn't pay attention to some of the details and put part of it together backwards. However, it was a simple fix if you have a drill. We use this product in a low traffic area and find that it is durable and looks great. We're very pleased with the value of the product.

This is a beautiful furniture piece. My only criticism is that the directions could have been more exact to identify small details in the assembly pieces. I almost had the chest completely assembled when I discovered a tiny detail not obvious in the directions. It was easy enough to remedy, but I'm always leery of unscrewing wooden pieces once assembled. I'm never certain that the pieces will fit together as well as they should. Luckily the pieces did screw well together a second time and so far are strong connections. I think this was a good buy especially with taking advantage of free shipping because the piece is quite heavy. THis piece really deserves a 4.5.

Received this trunk within a week. I put it together in about 40 minutes. It looks absolutely beautiful in my living room. Great quality. Good storage in trunk. definitely recommend this product. Thanks overstock!

This table (and side table) came amazingly quickly and are just gorgeous. It was relatively simple to assemble although some of the camber parts broke during assembly. We were looking for tables that would compliment a honey -oak mission-style armoire without being too "matchy". These were perfect! The color is a lovely dark honey/amber and the style is complimentary.

It was a little darker than the picture, however, with it darker, it seemed much more richer. It took me 45 mins. to put it together (a woman) For it being pine, it's very heavy and I really recommend this piece. The storage is great!

after getting it all assembled and installing the soft close mechanisms, the trunk won't close completely. There seems to be no way to adjust the hinges, so I will have to take them off and see if I can re-drill holes to adjust. I ordered this with one of the end tables and have a caution that the finishes do not match. The end table is several shades darker and redder--like a mahogany color while this is the warm brown tone shown in the picture. the finish on this is great and they arrived super quickly, but I probably won't be able to use them together in the same room as planned

Great little trunk. Easy to put together and looks great. Would definately reccomend.

I'm very dissapointed, the assembly was so difficult for us. Its very unstable and we will have to reinforce with screws.

I have both the large and small chests. The quality of the wood is superb. I use them as a coffee and end table respectively. I also use them to store bedding for overnight guest because of space restrictions. The Overstock.com pictures DO NOT do the actual product any justice. This is one of the smarter buys I have ever made. I'm sure you will be as happy as I am thrilled to own these.

I've used this table for four years now and for two of those years I kept my bedsheets in it and so opened it twice every day (that's over 700 times). If you are very careful and take the time to double check the way it opens and closes before screwing in the hinges, it will look great and last.
