Having read reviews beforehand, I was a little sceptical about purchasing, but my need to store my CD collection outweighed my caution - I was not disappointed. The package arrived within 7-10 days, the construction was completed by myself in a reasonable amount of time (an hour and a half in total - despite my DIY skills being minimal!), and the quality is fine and the build is sturdy enough to house most of my CD collection - I like the fully (!) adjustable shelves (not like on some other advertised products, as my collection includes CD cases of many different shapes and sizes, only one of which I could not fit in without the rest of the cabinet looking odd; it holds well over 1000 CD's. My only two criticisms are a) the case frontage columns conceal from view the first and last CD on each shelf (overcome by placing an empty CD jewel case at each end of each shelf) which could be a nuisance, and b) a little more aesthetic/practical thought could have been put into the wall fixing that stops the cabinet from falling over - I haven't had any problems with the unit tipping forward. It looks good, and thoroughly suits my purpose - my only problem is that, as this was the largest available, I will have to order another 'sister' unit to house my remaining 200-odd CD's! I would recommend this product.Read More
The cabinet took a while to get here but I quickly put it together after receiving it. The cabinet is very sturdy, even after almost completely loading it with CD's and DVD's.Read More
This cabinet does not tell you how many DVD that it will hold. I was looking for cabinet to hold at least 1300 DVD. I would recommend this one to a friend if they do not have so many DVDRead More
Yes, this holds lots of media...but...it feels pretty cheap and does not seem to have the quality that other overstock products have. I kept it because it does hold several dvds but I am not really impressed with it.Read More
This cabinet of shelves is so cool... It comes with a way to attach it to the wall so that it will not tip forward when full. The fact that it is big and NOT deep, however it does have a wider base for added support, it is perfect. I did not want a deep shelving unit yet I needed a big unit to accommodate all my hair color product with the ability to see every thing quickly. The shelves come in a separate box and you can place them where you want, not necessarily where they show them to be.Read More
I'd been looking for shelving for our collection of DVDs for a long time. These are perfect and look lovely. They are narrow enough for our hallway and hold a lot of DVDs.Read More
The product arrived in a timely manner, and the box was in pristine condition. I managed to empty my old, smaller media cabinet, that was starting to fall apart, and not only assembled this one, but dusted all of the contents from the old one, and loaded this one in 2. 1/2 hours. The instructions were easy to follow. Some people complained about the weight of this product, but I found that only the bigger box was a problem. I simply opened it, laid down some old blankets, and unloaded the boxes, sorting as i went. It was no problem to assemble alone, and I am not a big woman. If you have a lot of media, and not a lot of money, I wholeheartedly suggest buying this product.Read More
Questions & Answers
Hello burbrook, I hope your day is going well. This will hold 1200 CD so if you need more space the 30 will work just as well. Thank you for shopping with us and I hope you have a great day.
Hello, I'm thinking of using this cabinet as a display unit for 45 RPM records. I need to ask the depth of the shelving that comes with this beautiful unit. I need the shelving to be at least seven (7) inches for this to work for vinyl record display. If this would work I could use as many as four (4) units.
Hello pepsimem, thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately, this shelf is 16 tall and 4.6 inches deep. A similar item that may work for you is item number 929645. I hope this helps. Happy shopping!
No, it would not work! Not deep enough!
Does this need anchored to the wall??
We didn't anchor this one, it seemed surprisingly steady.
I find it steady too, however I have yet to put the shelves and product I intend to have on it. It does come with a way to attach it...I needed a big cabinet but not a deep one. The base is deeper then the cabinet adding stability too.
how many dvds can this unit hold
The shelves are adjustable. It would depend on how they were arranged. It would be able to hold over 600 DVDs.

Best Bookshelf Materials
It's not unusual for bookshelves to incorporate multiple materials for different features. If you haven't decided on wood, wood products, metal or glass bookshelves, look at their relative strengths and weaknesses. Look below to learn the best bookshelf materials. Wood: "Solid wood" is a common term for furniture made from lumber planks. Beware of making assumptions based on labels like "hardwood" and "softwood." Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and softwoods from coniferous trees; the terms don't connote their relative strengths. Balsa is a hardwood even though it is very soft, just as Douglas fir is a softwood even though it is very hard. They all make excellent, classic stock material for bookcases. Generally, harder woods are the heavier and more resistant to scratches. Still, softer woods, if treated correctly, will keep just as well as harder woods. Plywood: Made by stacking thin sheets -- "plies" -- of lumber and gluing them under pressure, plywood features grains that alternate direction for strength. Several grades are available, of differing cost. Top and bottom plies can be high-quality woods to create the appearance of fine woods, but edge veneer or molding is needed to complete the illusion. Particleboard: Wood chips glued together carry a much lower price tag than solid wood, and particleboard is denser and more uniform. It's a great choice when cost is the primary consideration. Bookshelves crafted from veneered composite boards can look and feel as good as real wood. MDF: Wood fibers, tiny chips and sawdust collected and glued into sheets form medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Low-cost MDF makes an excellent base for veneers; plus, its strength is consistent and it shapes well. Metal: There's a reason most library bookshelves are made from metal: Metal bookcases are resistant to moisture and fungus, their low-friction shelves are easier on books' bindings and metal's strength-to-weight ratio can't be beat. Their cost usually comes in below any other material. Glass: Glass bookshelves weigh more than other types, but if you plan on assembling your bookshelves only once, the style points can be well worth it. Tempered glass shelves (in wood or metal uprights, called "standards") give your home an unbeatable contemporary feel, and glass bookcases' smooth, transparent surfaces add brilliant levity to a decorating piece that might otherwise be notably opaque and heavy.
