I am now using several of these in varying sizes, including several that have been in service more than a year. These are first-rate pads (I'm using them promarily with Orientals, and on carpeting and hard-surfaced floors). They can be trimmed easily if necessary, and hold up very well. They do, in fact, work equally well on carpeting and hard-surfaced floors. In addition, they provide great cushioning for rugs. Almost all Oriental rug dealers recommend the use of a pad, even over carpet, to preserve the life of the rug and to make rugs easier to clean. Wise advice! The Overstock.com price is about half that of comparable pads locally. As usual, delivery was even faster than I expected. Where's the down side?

The pad was sturdy; fibers did not separate or pull apart like some other pads do. It has two surfaces, one for use on carpet the other for hard floors. I am using it on a hard floor, and it slips, requiring frequent repositioning under the rug (5' x 7') and also brings up the concern of someone falling.

We have wood floors, so bought the upgraded pad as we wanted to place area rugs in very high traffic areas (bottom of stairs and front door). While this is a good carpet pad, I do wish there was a little more gripping action on the top side of the pad. The bottom stays in place very well, but the carpet tends to slide from time to time on the top surface. Good padding tho, very comfortable when you step on the carpet it supports.

this rug pad was better than expected. It has cushioned our carpet well and keep it from shifting around on the floor. I cut off what was not needed and used the pieces under bathroom carpets. I really love this product.

Shipping was amazingly fast. Fit the rug perfectly. Improves the feel of the rug. This is the third one I have bought and I'm very pleased with them all.

I have had a terrible time with rugs slipping on my hardwood floors even with a rug pad. So I purchased this pad and it is wonderful! I couldn't believe how substantial the pad was! My rug doesn't slip anymore and there is a decent amount of cushion for the price.

I placed this pad under one of my favorite area rugs. It must be my dog's favorite rug too as she relieved herself three times on it in one evening. The pad kept the urine off the wood floor and prevented damage. I ordered a new pad as I did not feel comfortable washing and reusing it. :)

Great pad. I had purchased a Flokaki Rug which slid easily. Once I cut the pad to fit it is great. Even the dogs and grandkids can't move the rug.

This carpet pad is EXCELLENT! I did have to cut it to fit, but that was done easily with regular utility scissors. The padding is much thicker than it's cheaper counterpart and is treated with a wonderful non-skid surface both on top and on bottom. This ensures the pad stays in place on my wood floor, and also that the rug stays in place on the pad. Definitely worth the extra $$ to get the better quality.

I was very satisfied. I placed this rug pad over wall to wall carpeting. The area rug that was put on top of it has been very smooth - no wrinkles or rumples. as it was previous to using the rug pad. Well worth buying!

I love this rug. I'd buy again with no hesitation. The colors and pattern is just gorgeous. You should definitely consider an underlayment pad if you have hardwood floors.

I have brick floors and this pad is thick and tough! The rug I got from Overstock feels smooth and plush on this otherwise uneven floor surface.

Thick fiber pad with rubber on one side - it made my rugs feel much thicker and softer to walk on. Rugs do not slip AT ALL when they ar e on these pads. I am extremely pleased with these rug pads. They are not like those "cheesy" so-called pads that are just rubber with holes in them - these are really thick and substantial. Terrific!

I now have two of these, both on hardwood floors. They do a nice job of adding some cushion to my area rugs.

Great product - easy to trim and great quality. Perfect for tile floors.

This is my third purchase at Overstock and I have to say that I have always received stuff promptly. The quality and price of all items I bought are excellent. As for the rug pad, previous posters have said it trims to size easily, but I had to struggle to trim it. But I did manage eventually. I bought the 5 X 8 size. Again, some others have said the pad does not move at all. I found that while the pad is heavy and does not move easily, there is a slight movement in heavy traffic areas and needs to be adjusted every couple days.

For the past four years I have been using these rug pads under my rugs. They are great and keep the rug from slipping around. Plus they help the rug feel more plush. I have been so happy with this pad that I have bought them for all the older rugs in my house. I would definitely recommend the pads for any rug used.

not sure how this works w-hard floors but the area rug i purchased from overstock stilled slipped w-this mat underneath. i ended up re-selling them both as the constant straightening of the area rug became too bothersome for me becuz of my bad back.

This thing stays in place most of the time. I have hardwood flooring, and I find that I actually adjust the pad 1-2 times per week. Now the irritating thing is my rugs on top will not stay put!! I even tried the carpet tape and they slide off often. At first I thought it was the texture behind my rug, but that wasn't the case as I replaced my rugs recently with the same problem. So irritating when you vacuum or have high traffic areas where these are laying. I think I will stick to the plain foam.

Strong and durable. Does the job! Cuts to size. Provides extra cushioning.
