I bought this for someone as payback for a favor, so I can't provide a review. Wish I could be of more help, but I didn't use it. I can tell you that when the box was opened, all the parts were nicely organized in a sturdy carrying case with compartments and squeeze slots for fittings. The bonus - and my reason for choosing this - was that it came with a cable-driven extension for use in narrow or curved places in which the body of the rotary motor won't fit. I found this accessory to be invaluable when a friend of mine had to cut out the topmost 2" section of 4" diameter PVC pipe that was buried in concrete. The circumferential cut to remove the top 2 inches of this submerged PVC had to be made from inside the pipe, and could not have been managed without the cable extension to his rotary tool. I don't know if Buffalo's rotary has as much torque or longevity as Dremel's, but it sure was a lot more affordable!

I bought this for my fiance for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He couldn't wait to tear it out of the box and use it. He said it is the perfect tool because it does everything. Great product!

Purchased this for my husband who refurbishes motorcycle parts. He had been requesting a heat gun for quite some time so, after finding this one and reading other reviews, we bought it. Shipping was very prompt. He used the item the day he received it and was thrilled with how easily it helped remove the paint off of old gas tanks with a couple layers of paint. He is so impressed with it, he is stripping the paint off of all the parts he has bought so he can fix the dents and re-paint them. Excellent product!!

I have bought many refurbished items from Overstock and this was the first that definitely looked pre-owned. There was a gash in the plastic, which was very ragged and aged-looking and no instruction manual was included. That said, we looked to You Tube for some idea of how these drills work in general (Hitachi does not at this time have manuals on their web site), and my husband turned out to be very pleased with it. We should not drywall - don't have the joint compound thing down - but THIS aspect of the job was a pleasure, thanks to this tool. I would give it 5 stars if there had been a manual or it had looked brand new, as the usual refurbished stuff here DOES. Nevertheless, I would recommend it to anyone.

You are better off spending more money on a quality product. This product is cheap and cheaply made. It has no power and will probably break after your first real use. Mine is actually unusable after putting together a prefabricated cabinet... the motor is shot and it does not work at all. Cheap is expensive!

I admit it sat on my work-bench for three months before I tried it out, so I won't bother trying to return it. But...The depth adjustment gear was made of cheap plastic and fell apart the second time I used it. Only way I can adjust height of base is to push or pull. Useless for any fine work or any exact settings. I use it has spare router with the same bit in it at same depth at all times. Other then that it is useless. If you want to use for anything else, good luck. Also, the shipping box arrived with barely a scratch, but when I opened it the orginal packing box inside was smashed, hastily retaped, and the contents looked like they had been poured back into the box in no particular order. It was clear that my router had either been returned once already or drop-kicked around the warehouse.

It was worth what I paid for it. I really didn't expect anything else from it. The first time I used it was on a rusty screw and it wasn't powerful enough to turn it. I must use it on lighter jobs.

WAS UNABLE TO USE THE PRODUCT FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS. 1. THE ITEM ARRIVED WITHOUT SIX ITEMS DESCRIBED IN THE ONLINE DESCRIPTION AND RETURNED THE SAME WHEN CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO HONOR THE AD. 2. DID DETERMINE THAT ITEM WAS PROBABLY DEFECTIVE UPON INITIAL ASSEMBLY AND RETURNED THE SAME. 3. CONSIDERING THE ATTITUDE DISPLAYED BY CUSTOMER CARE AND BUFFALO TOOLS SIMPLY RETURNED THE ITEM.

Used the drill twice, when using it, smells of electrical burnt scent coming from the motor area. Don't know if this is good or bad!

I bought this as I was starting to strip paint off furniture and it did a great job in my opinion. I only used the high setting since I had 3 layers of paint to get through. Biggest downside to the item is the attachments that come with it, they are very thin metal. The scrapper attachment couldn't hold up to any pressure before bending out of shape. But using a separate wider scrapper works out better anyway. Overall it is a very good tool that I'm happy to add to my collection.

I gave this set to my grandson as a Valentine's Day gift. He is extremely pleased with the quality and quantity of bits. He says, " They look like a museum-quality product. The case is as beautiful as the drill bits. I tried out a couple and I can hardly wait to really use them." He commented, also, that he was certain he could do some routing with the drill bits.

There's no question that the right power tool can help you complete the job more efficiently than traditional hand tools. The success you have with your power tools is dependent on purchasing the right tool and using it safely. For many do-it-yourself home improvement projects around the home, portable power tools, such as drills and sanders, are ideal because they can be easily stored when they're not in use. If you're outfitting a garage or workshop, you'll likely be considering stationary tools, such as table saws and drill presses, as well as more portable power tools.
As you work on different projects, you'll collect more tools for your workshop. Power tools are great for quick jobs around the house or large-scale projects. Whether you're just starting your collection or well into building on it, these are the power tools buying guide that will help you get the job done right.
Stepping up from hand tools to power tools is a move that can save you a lot of time and energy. Power tools can also save you money by letting you do a home-improvement project yourself instead of hiring a contractor to do it. And it only takes a few tools to go from struggling with a job to getting professional-quality results.
When you've invested a lot in your tools, you want to make sure that they last. And while your power tools may be rugged, they still require basic care to prevent premature wear and tear. By following the tips given below, you'll be on your way to prolonging the life of your power tools and keep them working smoothly for years to come.
Whether cordless, gas-powered or electric, power tools have revolutionized home building and repair. Imagine building an entire house with hand tools like saws, hammers and screwdrivers. Speed and power sometimes come with a price, however: The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) lists several serious hazards associated with power tools, including electrocution, explosions and injuries from blades and moving parts. This list of safety facts offers tips on using power tools effectively without causing injury to yourself or others.
Cordless power tools have come a long way and command a large following in the home-improvement industry. Some of the most popular cordless tools include drills, circular saws, screwdrivers, impact wrenches, reciprocal saws, nail guns and power sanders. While they haven't replaced large shop tools, cordless power tools are very popular on construction sites. Cordless power tools are also perfect for the homeowner who enjoys taking an active role in home improvement and maintenance.
A nail gun can be used for almost any project in which you would use a hammer and nail. For large projects, such as framing a house or an addition or installation of fencing, an air gun cuts the time dramatically and increases consistency and stability. These powerful tools can be powered by compressed air, gas or electricity.
A belt sander allows the operator to quickly sand the surface of a piece of wood with a minimum amount of physical effort. Because the belt sander is a power tool and the belt moves at such high speeds, it does not require as much pressure to strip off the top layer of the wood as it would if you were using a sheet of sandpaper. Belt sanders, like all power tools, are especially important for large home improvement projects, like building a deck or refinishing cabinets, because they can sand a lot of surface area very quickly.
Serious construction and home improvement projects require serious tools. When you're embarking on a large project, such as a home addition or major painting, regular power tools may not be up to the challenge. That's where using air tools can make things easier. Air tools, or pneumatic tools, don't need to be recharged, and they are more durable than power tools that use electric motors and batteries. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions that will help you decide if using air tools is the right move for your next home improvement project.
If you like doing home-improvement projects but still want to have free time to enjoy the finished product, a power saw is an essential tool to speed up your projects. Whether you have a circular saw to cut planks for a new deck or a jig saw for fine woodworking, knowing how to use your saw safely is of utmost importance. Fortunately, running your power saw like a professional doesn't take much time.
Even with today's plentiful assortment of power saws, many carpenters keep a hand saw around for special projects. Hand saws come with a variety of blade lengths and tooth configurations to allow you to cut different wood types. Hand tools require no electrical connections or batteries since you operate them manually, and they are a good back-up option when you're working in an area where electrical power is not available. Using a hand saw is simple, but it takes a little muscle and a bit of technique to cut wood efficiently.
Professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike use a set of basic tools to get started on any project. If you're ready to get your own collection of tools started or you just want to give a basic toolset as a gift, this checklist will help you know what hand tools, power tools and woodworking tools to include.
Power drills are used for many different tasks, from hanging pictures in your home to heavy-duty construction projects like structural framing. The level of power classifies power drills: a drill may be used for light work, medium work or heavy-duty work. A good all-around drill will have several speeds and allow you to use an array of drill bits. Like any power tool, when operating a power drill, safety should always come first.
When it comes to using power tools, a little knowledge goes a long way toward preventing injuries and prolonging the life of your tools. If you frequently use a power drill in your home improvement or automotive projects, you may know the basics of drill safety already. Below are some power drill safety tips that will help you protect yourself and your tools. Some of them may seem new or just a good safety refresher.
Air tools are powerful and rugged. They are perfect for the professional builder and craftsman as well as the weekend warrior. This air tools buying guide from Overstock.com will help you decide which air tools would be right for your home improvement projects.
As a homeowner, you may find a pressure washer to be the right tool for cleaning your deck, your driveway, your car or the exterior of your house. Power tools, including power washers, are versatile tools that are an excellent additions to your collection of shop equipment. Before choosing a pressure washer, consider several factors, including how often you'll use the tool. The features on pressure washers vary, and finding the right one depends on your individual needs.

A wet saw is a useful power tool for anyone who will be cutting tile. Wet saws achieve a clean cut without breaking the tile by using a diamond-encrusted blade that rotates the saw through a pan of water as it cuts. The water keeps the saw blade cool, which prevents tile breakage and helps protect the saw's motor. Some wet saws are also capable of cutting through dense metals and brick. For a single weekend project, renting a power tool such as a wet saw may be more economical than purchasing one, but if you'll be cutting tile more than a time or two, owning one of these handy power tools is worth the investment.
A power drill is one of the most useful tools you can have in your home. Power drills come in a huge range of styles and feature many capabilities, from screwing craft projects together to full-blown construction applications. Drills range in price from low to very high, but many drills suitable for the homeowner or hobbyist are available in a reasonable price range. It's simply a matter of choosing the power tool that's right for you.
