I bought this platform about a year ago. Setup is a breeze. We had to retrofit some headboard brackets (purchased elsewhere) but we have a custom headboard so that was expected. The mattress overhangs the platform by 1" on both sides and 3" at the end with only 12.75" clearance from the floor to the bottom of the platform. We decided we could live with that. Within 2 weeks of purchase, the springs began sqeaking on one side and after 2 more it began on the other. We are not large people. It was not worth the cost of return shipping so we will donate it eventually. How can you mess up something so simple? I would avoid purchasing this product.
So I was a little hesitant when this arrived. This is a little...basic. It looks cheaply made...and no screws? What keeps it together? What if the metal makes a bunch of noise? Well, I slept on it. Literally! And I love it! The frame is easy to construct. As I said, it requires no screws whatsoever. This makes the bed easy to disassemble or reassemble as needed. The bed frame comes together with some wingnut screws attached to the four posts on the end. They interlock. Speaking of interlocking, this is how the two pieces of the frame come together - they interlock, using two screw-like bolts on each that slide into catches on each end of the frame. The frame is very plain, which is how I like it. The height of the frame from the floor is about 14 inches, so you get plenty of space underneath to put stuff in. I don't utilize that much in my life, but I am sure others do, so it's a great bonus that I have it. The frame sleeps great. I slept last night with no problems. I have a large king sized 14" memory foam mattress on top of it, and even with my movements I make through the night, there was no noise from it. It was a shock compared to my old bed, which was ludicrously noisy. I knew I was getting into this when I bought it, but be aware - there's no headboard. I like that about it, but some may want one for head support watching TV, mounting a fan onto it, or other assorted tasks. I personally like not having the headboard banging around, but some may need it. I imagine one could attach one if you really wanted one. Definitely pick this up if you need a no-frills bed frame. I love it!
This is the second one I've purchased: a queen and a king. They're sturdy and eliminate the need for a second box spring mattress. Although I've not had this happen while sleeping on the mattress, it can slide if pushed enough as there is no friction between the mattress and frame. However, I'm a small person, so I actually find this helpful while changing sheets. Overall, a good purchase at a great price!
This was a breeze to put together! Took maybe five minutes. The only down side is the box - it's a large, square, flat, heavy box so it was difficult to haul up three flights of stairs. But other than that, I'm very pleased. Using it with a 14" memory foam mattress so it's sitting pretty high off the floor.
