I was expecting something with a bit more loft. This is less of a rug than a mat. it weighs in total about 15 pounds, even though it is very large. It smelled of plastic resin for days after opening it. I don't know about it's safety in a fire. It would probably melt, which might be very dangerous to a child. Yes, the colors are vibrant, and the kids love the "balls" and the words. But it's better suited to a playroom that will take abuse and won't have children sleeping in it. I dont' recommend it for a bedroom. I'm truly not sure it's worth the price but it's too much trouble to return and the kids like it. I plan to order a wool rug for their room, which I'd like to walk on better (this feels slightly slick to bare feet, due to the thin artificial fiber), wouldn't have the odor, which can't be good to inhale while sleeping, and wouldn't present possible fire issues (please note I have not tested this product for fire safety qualities, this is only speculation). It's nice looking, just put it in the proper setting.

Excellent rug to provide education while your kids are playing. Only drawbacks- no pile whatsoever and dark color shows every piece of lint you can imagine.

This is an awesome rug. The colrs are great. Looks wonderful with the Galaxy bedding. Add some wall stickers and its a hit. Recommend pad underneath to keep from shifting on floor

Over all, I like the rug. My son loves it and it is a nice way to introduce him to the solar system.

After reading some of the reviews about odor, I really was hesitant to order. I'm glad I did. Absolutely no odor. My 5 12 year-old grandson finds this rug an absolute delight.

The rug looks great in my son's primary-colored room. The price was more than I was really hoping to spend, but I love that the rug is a teaching tool, too. I wish the rug had a gripper backing, but it's large enough that we were able to put furniture on the edges of it to hold it in place. We vacuum it just about every day and it still looks as good as it did the day we got it - over a month ago.

The rug had very little smell, and after several weeks has absolutely none. It requires a pad underneath so keep this in mind. The better the pad, the better the rug looks and feels. It is very bold, not faded. The feel is not plush, more on the polyester side. The boys love it. It does look nice with the space themed comforter set I also purchased on Overstock. It think it is slightly high in price, but I don't regret the purchase. It vacuums nicely and really does look good. It rolled out and laid flat with no problem, which was a very nice surprise!

The rug is simply a beautiful decorative piece. It brights up my sons' room with its rich colors. The size is perfect too. It's not thick, but you can't go wrong with this. Enjoy ! Oh, and it never smelled like plastic.

I ordered this rug for my 6 month old son's bedroom. Although it arrived over a week ago, it still smells so badly of chemicals and plastic, I cannot leave it in his room. In fact, whoever is in a room with it ends up with red eyes and a bad headache. It looks nice enough, but so far is not at all usable. If it weren't such a hassle to ship, I would definitely return it.

I bought this area rug for my boys, age 3 (twins) right after getting new carpet for their room. Not only does it do a great job of protecting the new carpet, but the boys love it! Every day they run thru the planets, so I suppose they are getting a slight heads up for a future science class. Pluto is there. I realize that Pluto has been declassified as a planet, but I like it that way. It was a planet when I was a kid. Suppose I will have to explain why it is not a planet at some point, but this rug is well worth it.

This is the perfect rug for my "space mad" sons' room. While it's not heirloom quality by any stretch of the imagination, it is perfect for our purposes--a smooth, warm surface to put their feet on in the morning, and something to lower the noise level of the house. It's educational and attractive.

This rug was a bargain for what it will be used for. We needed a platful rug for a 1 year old's playroom. Couldn't have been happier with the quality for the price.
