The light is described as ebony and looks black in the picture. The reason I initially BOUGHT the light was for that reason.....the light is dark brown with gold "rubbings". It is a really pretty light that is well made but the picture that is shown here is quite different. I did decide to keep it and like it after it has been installed but just to let you know....it's not black!Nice light!
