This lamp was reasonably simple to assemble. It is elegant and is working very nicely to provide both ambient and direct light in the corner of our den where my husband's recliner is. The two different sources of light are useful and the light switches on the middle of the stand are a particularly nice feature as they are easy to reach and use for turning both light sources on to two different settings. The lamp came with a halogen light in the reading lamp; you must provide bulbs (100W or lower) for the upper part. I am very happy with my purchase, more importantly, my husband is too.

On the pro side lights up the room megawatt w/only (2) 100 watt bulbs. Also the reading lamp has 2 settings and is very bright for doing close up work like knitting The first setting is adequate for reading. It's not as easy to put together and the instructions are poor. Even tho the base is solid, it still wobbles because the poles are hollow and have to be screwed into each other and the base. The glass torchiere gives off an ambient light w/the one 100 watt, but the base to screw it into is flimsy and does not align completely w/the torchiere.. I bought it mainly for light and it does look elegant from a distance

Living through a dreary dark Seattle winter just became a lot more pleasant. TWO HUNDRED WATTS of light in the top of the lamp and 60 halogen on the little side lamp. It's a beautiful graceful lamp and for the size and height it is not overbearing or bulky. The base is nice and weighty so the lamp is stable even on carpet. The on/off switches are very conveniently located on the side of the lamp with both low and high settings for each switch. The top and side lamps turn on separately, of course. The finish on the satin brass is soft and beautiful. It took no time at all for the hubby to put together. I'm VERY pleased with this lamp. Good value - nice to look at and provides wonderful bright light.

Delivery took about 10 days. It was easy to put together, but needed 2 people as the two rods were put into the base. The rods continue to twist because the pointed screws do not have holes to enter but rely on pressure. In spite of using pliers with the included angle tool, I could not tighten them enough. I slid it across the floor to resist putting strain on the rods. The up-light can use up to 2 100W bulbs! Switches for up-light and halogen both give 2 light settings.

I had to get a replacement. firsrt one broken shade and the workmanship was terrible. Overstock shipped a replacement lamp which arrived faster than the original one. Replacement lamp also had poor craftsmanship and the shade was also broken. Both lamps were difficult to put together due to having to thread the wire and then turn the connectors to tighten. One didn't stand straight. These are the first things I had to ship back.

It looks so elegant. Could be perfect for any room in a house. Easy to assemble, took about 10 min. Unfortunantely it came a little bended. Have no idea whose fault is it. Anyway love it very much and extremely happy with the purchase.

This lamp is perfect for soft lighting. I use it while watching TV. The reading lamp is great. It was very hard finding a torchiere lamp with just a single reading lamp. Not only is it extremely functional, the lamp is beautiful. I love it!

I was not sure I wanted a lamp with the name "mother and son". But, this cute lamp with a room light, as well as a reading light is just what I was looking for. They both have more then one setting.

This lamp lends a rich look to any room. It is far more solid than other lamps of this type. I am shocked at how lovely and substantial it is having never owned one of these lamps that wasn't easily tipped and not long lasting. I also find that the way that it lights the room is fantastic. It adjusts and the two light sources compliment each other and allow you to direct the illumination. I am so pleased with this lamp I cannot say enough good things about it.

The lamp is a must buy! Faboulous reading light. Very easy to put together by one person. I bought this light 3 years ago at a retail store and gave it as a gift. Now I wanted to purchase one for myself but could not locate it again in the stores. I was delighted that Overstock had it for such a great price. Guest coming into my home have asked where I purchesed such a "cool" light!

The reviews I read all liked the amount of light put out by this lamp ("200 watts!!!") so I was really looking forward to this lamp, even though it doesn't go with my decor. It is an improvement, especially with the little arm lamp, but the light is very white. With my 12 foot ceilings-eh. Maybe I need 2 or 3 more.

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS LAMP TO ANYONE NEEDING THIS PRODUCT. THE ITEM CAME IN 2 DAYS. IT WAS NOT HARD TO PUT TOGETHER, THOUGH TRICKIER THAN IT MAY SEEM AT FIRST. IT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! IT LOOKS LIKE A $300 LAMP! IT IS EXTREMELY BRIGHT - IT HOLDS TWO 100WATT BULBS!!! AND THE MAIN FIXTURE AND THE LITTLE SIDE LIGHT EACH HAVE 2 SPEEDS. I THOUGHT IT WAS SO BRIGHT AND THEN REALIZED I CAN TURN THE KNOB AGAIN AND IT BECOMES DOUBLY BRIGHT! LIGHTS UP THE WHOLE ROOM AND THE DARK CORNER IT IS IN ALLOWS ME TO SEE INSIDE MY CLOSET - SOMETHING I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO DO FOR YEARS!! DON'T HESITATE BUYING THIS LAMP! NO NEGATIVES!

The stand could be made more secure or more solid.

Wow! What a beautiful addition to our home. Shipment arrived quickly and well packaged. Assembly was effortless. The frosted glass shade provides a touch of elegance. We ordered two. Both lamps exceeded our expectations.

After searching for floor lamps for some time this is the second one I have purchased from O. Both were different styles. This lamp arrived intact all pieces/parts included and unbroken. Had it together in about 15 minutes, a second set of hands came in very handy.

The first lamp I ordered rattled when the FedEx person handed it to me - not a good sign. The upper glass globe was destroyed. I refused it at the door and emailed Overstock.com immediately. Within just a few days I had a new lamp - unbelievable customer service. Fairly easy assembly, but definitely better with two people. It's hard to imagine how much light is generated by the reading lamp. And I was skeptical about how much light there would be with the big globe aimed at the ceiling - it lights up the whole room. Great product at a great price.
