Pewter Hampter with Canvas Lining

I purchased this model to place in our bedroom as the scroll work is similar to wrought-iron night-stands we already have in place. This hamper was replacing a chrome hamper with a non-washable, but readily transportable (has handles) heavy duty canvas hamper, which had become heavily soiled. I was interested in this hamper for a number of reasons other than the design -- the ability to wash the liner, the handmade nature of the product, etc. I researched this product on a number of different websites as Overstock.com failed to provide dimensions on the hamper. Based upon the dimensions, i concluded that the hamper would be large enough for my husband and me. The frame of the hamper is very attractive. However, it should be noted that all that holds the hamper in place structurally is a light-weight cotton (more like linen, but definitely NOT canvas as indicated in the caption) liner. In order to put the hamper together, one must velcro the hamper liner over two sides of the hamper, then flip it to velcro (tie-down) the bottom together. I found the process to be quite challenging. The bottom of the "liner" still felt flimsy to me as I was accustomed to a padded firm bottom on my former hamper. So, I took two pieces of the UPS box in which the hamper was packed (perfect fit), stacked them, covered them with contact paper, and now have a firmer bottom to my hamper! I also took the "harness" (adjustable strap that connected the legs at the bottom of the old hamper) and applied it to the new hamper to give it added stability. Now, I feel safe using it. All this being said, one should not have to go through this process to get a hamper set up and functional. In fact, were I to "use" the liner every laundry day to transport laundry from the bedroom to the laundry room, I would have to go through the same horrible velcro-ing process. Not worth it! So, I have retained the ugly, stained bag from my old hamper and will use that as a transfer bag. With all these negatives, one would rightfully ask, why on earth are you keeping it? Basically, because of the design, and for no other reason. I am hoping that the manufacturer will come out with a washable, heavier duty liner (which I would gladly buy). It's difficult to find something that you can live with in your bedroom and this is attractive, so it will stay.
