Very pretty when they set their minds to it
If you've got about 10 inches of wall above your patio door (or closet), these should work just fine right out of the box because —although they're listed as being 78" in length — they're closer to 80" when they arrive, and they grow about an inch more once they're hung. In my case, there's only 6" above our patio door and thus, I needed to do some major surgery to get them to fit. There's a metal strip at the bottom and top of each panel, so my first plan of attack was to "hem" the bottom strip up using long strips of Velcro. It almost worked but the bulk of the hemline blocked the smooth "left-to-right" action these panels are (supposedly) designed to do. So I adjusted my plan and instead shortened each panel by cutting the bottom metal strip off, along with the excess length. It turns out the threads that hold the bamboo pieces in place are continuous from top to bottom, so I taped the (now unraveling) bottom of the panel with clear packing tape, which worked well. Then I had to remove the material that was stuffed into the metal strip — using scissors, a screw driver, my teeth (whatever worked). Next, I had to reinstall the metal strip onto the newly taped bottom of each panel, which wasn't as easy as one might hope: a pair of pliers and a hammer came in handy. Now all four panels are hanging without touching the floor, with slightly different lengths, and a little too much swing to them when being opened to guarantee a nice "landing" (the panel with the wand swings as it's being opened and, when it stops, it rests next to — rather neatly in front of — the panel just behind it. The blinds are beautiful when they're hanging as they should which takes a little adjustment every time we use the wand, but Hubby says he thinks, in time, gravity will solve this. I hope so. So, to answer your question about whether I'd recommend this to a friend: it depends on who the friend is. Do I like them, and are they handy with household projects?

It took me almost two hours to set it up, because the stickers on panels not really match the instructions, I have to figure it out by myself. But it is pretty, I like it.

Very poor quality.
This item came with part of the metal headrail crushed. Also it had a broken plastic piece on top of one of the panels. My husband had to do quite a bit of improvising for this item to even be usable. Naturally this made for a very difficult installation process. It has been up for a little while, and the panels have gotten off the track a few times. It does look nice though. All in all, not worth the money.

These panels are good
I really like the look of these panels in my kitchen, they offer semi-privacy,just like they show in the picture. I purchased other panels from this site that were much easier to install than this system. The installation difficulty was because my kitchen cabinets are located to the left of the slider so I had to put the panels on the track first then install the track, which was heavy. After a few days I needed to move the track higher becuase the bamboo stretched, and once again I could move it a bit higher because they have stretched again.....but over all. I really like them the producet is of good quality and a good price!
