The lights create warmth & just enough light for night use. The tilt feature is easy to use & quite helpful for shading. The quality, look, & color of the umbrella satisfy us. The only downside was the plastic "spacer" where the umbrella sits in a stand--improper sizing. Hubby used a strip of rubber matting, wrapped it around the mast & held it in place with a plastic zip tie. It works perfectly! Very satisfied!

I bought this umbrella and stand to create shade over two chairs and small glass table on my deck. Since I didn't have plans to use it with a dining table, I needed an umbrella tall enough for people to walk under without issues. Even my husband who is 6' 4" can comfortably walk under it. The fabric seems like it is not the best quality as it is thinner than I expected, but only time will tell how it weathers this season. Easy crank open and provides great shade. Base is very sturdy and attractive.

We ordered the red umbrella to use for additional shade around our pool and patio. Although our in-ground pool has a screen enclosure around it, the hot Florida sun can be intense. Luckily, the red matched our wicker furniture cushions perfectly, too, and the umbrella is large enough to provide shade for 2 lounge chairs. We ordered a rolling umbrella base, which makes it mobile and very functional. It can be placed anywhere easily. The fabric is high quality, and the mechanical parts function well. We love the tilt function, it's just like our other umbrella, so we had no issues figuring out how to use it. Very sturdy & well made. Would definitely recommend this one.

Having read the reviews on this item, I was a little worried that it would not last very long, however, we were willing to give it a try. We put the umbrella up yesterday and we were extremely please with the ease of putting it together. We did need to put some weights on the base to hold it down, but since it is behind a couch, it is not visible. The coverage area of the umbrella is huge! It provides a ton of shade which is needed in Central California summers! We do have a lot of wind in our area, so we will have to be very careful not to leave the umbrella up during windy times, but we are pretty careful about taking care of our property, so no big deal. In a nutshell, although this may not be a "high quality" item, as long as you are careful how you take care of it and use common sense, I think it will be a great product to have in your back yard! It looks incredible! Time will tell... but we are extremely pleased!

We bought this umbrella to be used over the summer on our deck. We took it out of the box and it assembled and installed easily. The crank worked very well and coverage on our oval 8' patio table was good as expected. We thought the color went very well with our brown deck and house color. The only minor gripe is that the tie cord to secure the umbrella in the closed position was not attached to the umbrella and could be easily misplaced or lost. We've had the umbrella for a few days and so far so good.

I'm surprised all the people who bought this and complained it falls over. They did not read the description on the sales page here, that it MUST be weighted down at the base with (4) 12' square concrete patio paver stones, otherwise it will fall over. Duhhh... I first bought one of these 6 year ago from my local patio store, who came out and delivered and set it up with the required patio paver blocks for the base weights at a cost around $***. I bought it then because of its affordable - nicer patio umbrella this size cost around $****. It works and looks great for the first few years However for this price, long term reliability is an issue. And I live in Socal where the weather is moderate Here's what happened to mine: New - The pull cord cup that opens the umbrella arms doesn't really mate up well with its cord socket when the umbrella is open. No big deal. Not really noticeable to anyone but the owner. 2 years - the wind spun the umbrella arm around and broke the center locating bolt in the support post that allows rotating the umbrella from side-to-side. I am a mechanic, so if was able to drill a larger diameter hole in the support post and install stronger bolt, no real problem. Do remember to close the umbrella in windy conditions over 10mph or it can break the arm or flip over. 4 years - the internal cord that opens and retracts the umbrella, rotted and broke (it must be cotton?). I took the Crank Assembly and Umbrella stand/arm apart to install a new heavy duty 3/16' nylon cord/rope. Not having done it before, it did take a few hours to figure it out and simple hand tools. 6 years - The hand crank ratchet mechanism wore out and the umbrella would no longer stay open. It was not repairable. The umbrella cloth is rotting and tearing. Time to replace it - so you can expect an outdoor life for it of about 4-6 years. So why am I buying another one with all these reliability problems and short working life? Because I know its flaws and how to repair it, and the low price on Overstock.com at just $***.** with free shipping and no sales tax is so dam cheap. I can't afford not to. The cost of replacing it over the long run, is still probably much less than buying a more expensive model. And the design only takes up a small foot print on my patio next to the 6' round patio table and chairs that it covers quite well.

I enjoyed everything about this umbrella last year. The crimson lights really set it apart from my neighbor's patio set. I used it a lot during our long Spring to Fall seasons here in NC. Last weekend, I couldn't wait to set it back out but as soon as I went to open to.. the crank broke and my umbrella collapsed. I know it wasn't rust or weather damage because it was kept in the garage all winter. I left a message with Tropishades' Manufacturer 1-800 #. I purchased it just under 1 yr ago so it should be still under warranty. It had truly been a joy to see on my patio, especially at night. I hope they will replace it.

LOVE these umbrellas!!! We have ordered/purchased many 11 foot market umbrellas over the past 20 years. These ones are super quality with thicker poles, strong cords, plus a rich looking, heavier material for the umbrella shade. We were especially pleased with the mini-striping on the beige material - it gives texture plus will last longer. We bought two for our patio out in the Southern California Inland Empire area. We have been using them now for over a month and have received many compliments. They have done great with the extreme sun and some wind. (We do take them down in extreme winds.) We highly recommend these umbrellas! They look like that they cost a LOT more, plus with free shipping, and quick delivery, it's a win-win situation!
