Wonderful hammock
 from Alabama,  Dec 18, 2006

It seems from the other reviews that people either love or hate this hammock. I think it is great. In fact, I have two. It does not come with hardware but how difficult is it to find a couple of pieces of chain or rope. Another knock against the hammock are that it is difficult to get out of. You do sink down into it a bit but never had a problem getting out. The material is light and cool. A delight to be in on a summers day.

I love this hammock! It is very roomy, soft, and is so comfortable. Just be sure you have a stand or enough rope to hang between trees. I love the way it folds up into a little pocket for storage. I just love O and do most of my shopping with this wonderful company that has great products and saves us money!

Just got back from river front vacation - hammock was fought over as "the" place for an afternoon nap - going online now to order a second one - so I guess that's a good review!

I'm very pleased with my parachute silk hammock. It's easier to relax in than a woven rope style, fits two people comfortably and can travel anywhere. Because it's made of silk, it's lightweight and can easily fit into a small bag.

This hammock is ideal for the camper as it fits in nicely into its own little pouch and weighs next to nothing. I ended up sending it back however, because its not for home use on a stand. Its hard to get into, and once in it you feel like you're in a cocoon the way it wraps around you. Its also hard to get out of. Overstock.com immediatly credited my account with no problem.

Oh Soooo Comfortable!!!
 from Arizona,  Oct 20, 2008

I bought this hammock about four months ago and I am caught lounging in it quite often. I hung this on our outdoor porch between two beams and I have to say it was quite easy. I used rope tied on the top beams and just hung the hammock on the two roped ends and it works great! I have a very low railing around my deck so I'm able to use it as a shelf for my drinks and book and also to swing myself...how relaxing is that. I have also left this hammock hanging all summer long and it looks like it did the first day I hung it.I will say that it's best if it's not pulled to tight as when it's tight (meaning stretched out so that the hammock does not hang losely) you will find it encapsulates you so you will feel very claustrophic in it....found that out when we took it on a camping trip and hung it between two trees that were too far apart. If you hang it so that there's a nice "c" curve to it (making sure once in it you won't hit the ground) you will absolutely love it! Great for traveling as well so take it along on your camping trips. Awesome product and will be buying another one soon.

my # one favorite
from West Seattle Washington,  Jan 7, 2008

I bought this item late fall 2006. Put it away with my other hammocks till last year. I had bought nylon rope for extending all my hammocks and had just enough for this one. I have my hammocks hooked up in my carport end posts, so I use the rear bumper of my 66 Mustang to swing in my hammock. Plus, if I need extra support getting out of the hammock I have the bumper for help. With this hammock, you can lay in the hammock both directions and swing away. I spend many hours in the hammock reading and napping. I have a little patio table next to tha hammock with everything I need. This hammock was the only one I used the entire summer. For pure comfort, this one's the " BEST" ! One last thing, I was surprised to find out it fits on the standard hammock frame. I wouldn't trade this hammock for any other. The fabric is soothing on bare skin on a hot day. I think you get the picture. I LOVE IT!

from nashua, nh,  Oct 5, 2007

I was unsure about purchasing this hmmock, as I have had several that were very unconfortale and some that broke with ease, but this one is extremely comfortable and durable. I would recommend all hammock user to own one.

Outstanding Product
 from Livonia,MI,  Aug 31, 2007

I was a little nervous when ordering this, but I read all the reviews and took a chance. I absolutely love this hammock. It is so durable and holds a lot of pounds!!! The comfort level is superb, most of my family and friends have test it out and feel in love with it. The only problem I had was finding out how to hand it due to it not coming with any instructions. I feel that brackets should come with it to hang up. Thanks to my trusty local hardware store we figured it out. Dont care for the color options, but still very comfortable. Easily fit 3 people of course all under 350lbs.

Suspended within 100% Silk -- How Purrrfect!
 from Michigan,  Aug 22, 2007

This hammock was everything I hoped for and more! It is super light weight and wraps up into a small bag the size of my hand for easy storeage when not in use. The colors are vibrant and rich jewel tones yet the silk is very durable and stain resistant. I bought the army green/brown one first and loaned it to a friend who refused to return it. So, I purchased the yellow/purple one to take on trips with me. It is narrow, and I would not recommend it for use beyond 280lbs. It comes with 2 very strong hooks already attached. All I have to do is open it, and look for a strong branch or pole to secure it on and it's up and ready for swinging, dreaming, and languid reflection in nature. I love it! My children do too. Well worth the price, you Go Overstock! The hits just keep on coming.

My little cocoon...
from Walla Walla, WA,  Jul 19, 2007

When I decided to start shopping for a hammock, I looked at all kinds of websites, looking for styles and best prices, and stumbled upon this one. I was looking to buy a traditional woven one for around the same price, but this looked so much more interesting, colorful, and ultimately comfortable. I am very glad that I got it! The fabric is very light weight, but extremely durable. It's the kind of material that would dry instantly if it got wet, and surprisingly enough, this hammock is rated to hold 350lbs!! That means my husband, my son, and I can climb into it! (yes, we're skinny people) I ended up with the sky blue and brown, and when you're in it, you are surrounded in a peaceful hue, reminiscent of a calm, clear blue sky. The effect of the color blue on the brain is a calming one, plus, it's colorful and makes my deck look almost tropical and festive. I do, however, recommend hauling a pillow outside with you though, as it tends to want to swallow you up inside it because of the way it's designed. With a pillow, the hammock opens up a bit, and doesn't have that swallowing effect. My husband actually said that he would rather have the fabric kind that hangs from an enormous metal frame that takes up half the back yard, I reminded him of this aspect, threw a pillow at him and he fell into agreement with me, and into a nice nap! For the price, you can't beat it. My friends bought this same one at a fair booth for the same price. They were able to buy straps for an extra $5 so that you could wrap them around a couple of trees if you happened to take it camping. I didn't need those, as I just hung it between two 4x4 posts on my back deck. Be sure to buy large eye bolts to hang it, and use over sized washers on the back to spread out the tension and add strength to the hanging system.

Comfortable
 from Midwest,  Jul 15, 2007

I bought this hammock when my rope hammock broke, It is way more comfortable than the rope type which we only used with a blanket between us and the hammock. When using the silk hammock however, it has a cacoon effect - meaning the sides tend to close in on you. I dont know how they took the photo and got the center to appear open. Its a good buy and we are enjoying it this summer.

Great for Backyard or Backpacking
from Michigan City, INdiana,  Jul 12, 2007

I was amazed by the compactness and light weight of this hammock when it arrived. Other than the hooks on each end of the hammock, no other hanging hardware is provided. This, however, is not a major consideration. Everyone's situation for hanging the hammock is different, and a trip to the hardware section of any retailer will yield the required hardware for a few extra bucks. The hammock itself is well-constructed of durable parachute silk that will last for years if reasonably cared for. Although advertised as a double hammock, two people cannot occupy this thing comfortably. The hammock is physically large enough for two medium-sized adults, but hammocks being what they are, just do not allow for the comfort of two occupants. For the price, buy two of them and save yourself a hassle. If you are an overnight backpacker or cycler, this is a compact, comfortable, lightweight and off-the-ground alternative to a bulky bedroll or sleeping bag. As a retiree, I love to swing in the breeze on a summer day in mine.

Parachute Hammock
 from Mid-West,  Jun 24, 2007

My favorite hammock was made in Medida, Mexico. This is as close as anything to the comfort. It dries fast and is light weight. It's a little short for the frame I purchased, but some extra line solved that problem. I would take this hammock camping since it takes almost no room plus being light weight and easy dry.

Durable mexican style Hammock
from NE Ohio,  Jun 22, 2007

The Mexican sttyle hammock's are incredibly comfortable but the ones I've had in the past are beautifully woven- just gorgeous- but not at all durable. The parachute silk hammock seems to be plenty durable, no little strings to catch and break if you have buttons on, it's washable, and as far as I know it won't deteriate like the nylon and cotton woven hammocks. I'm very happy with it. Wished there were some different color combos available to choose from though. Haven't had it long enough to rate the constructiona and material of the all important loops that it hangs from, but it seems fine.

Awesome hammock
from Houston, TX,  Mar 21, 2007

Easy to use, small and light to carry, nice colors, and don't have to worry about losing the carrying bag because it is connected to the hammock. This thing is strong - holds me and my girl (~310lbs) plus our dog (10 lbs) and a few cold beers. Two hooks on the end, no chains, so remember to get something else to hook the hammock onto. I use tie-downs to adjust on anything and soft-ties. Liked it so much...I bought one for my brother. Him and his girlfriend had a blast with it on spring break.
