PHAT TOMMY Western Red Cedar Rectangle Planter Box

This looked like a great way to make our greenhouse fancier. We wanted to replace our large plastic bins with terracotta planters, but these boxes looked more practical. We ordered 2 to start with. Upon opening the package, I was greeted with the great aroma of cedar. With gleeful anticipation, I began assembling one box, but the directions were so cryptic I had to really think about how to put the pieces together so they would line up well. Holes were drilled in the some of the pieces to help get the screws started, but some of the holes lined up with knots. Even without the challenge of the knots, the pieces were not cut uniformly so would not line up well at all. I recommend that you purchase good deck screws to replace the shiny screws that are included and that will probably rot out quickly. I also want to point out that the sides and bottom are made of slats that are stapled to the frame. I'm afraid the staples will rot. The spacing between the slots is so wide, our plans to fill the boxes with dirt were dashed, so we returned the boxes. Fortunately, Overstock is great about giving full refunds for items that are not up to par. I noticed that they changed the description of this item to be more accurate. It used to state that the sides and bottom were tongue and groove, which they are not.

We were looking for something that could camouflage our utility box and this cedar planter box did the trick! It was easy to put together and the quality is incredible. This is a very sturdy box that holds a large amount of plants which was perfect for us. I will recommend this product to my friends! Great purchase.
