The reality is, this French Press is an elegant design, and would probably have worked ok (tho not as well as my Bodum, judging from the design of the press), except for one small detail: It arrived broken. The background I already own a 32oz Bodum that was a gift from my wife. I also own a 12 oz Ovente French Press Maker for when I want a single cup. I ordered and received it from Groupon. When Groupon put this series up on special, I figured, for $10.99, it was a great deal for a 20oz French Press, one that I could use to make decaf for friends when entertaining. The problem: due to very poor packing, it arrived shattered. In all fairness, Groupon immiediately refunded my money. Problem: I wanteda replacement, not a refund. So, now I have this elegant French Press coffeemker sans beaker. So, I contact Ovente to see about a prelacement. They don't have them. REALLY, Ovente? You're unable to support your product by carrying a simple replacement part? How do you honor your 1-year warranty (Im ean, what else can break on the French Press other than the beaker?) So, bummer -- I'm forced to consign this elegant, appealingly designed coffeemaker to the recycling bin because some moron couldn't be bothered to properly pack it, the company doesn't stand behind their product, and now I'll simply buy another Bodum. Be aware, and VERY careful not to break the beaker if you purchase one of these.....

Have been using it for 2 months or so and do not see any shortcomings. Great design, decent quality, great overall value. Just be mindful of the size it truly makes just one cup.
