8.5 quart Slow Cooker
 from Florida,  Feb 12, 2010

YES, YES, YES, I would recommend this cooker to everybody. It's the size why I ordered it from overstock. It is so much easier to cook in a larger pot than a smaller. It arrived fast, in perfect condiiton, great price and I used it right away to prepare a nice hot meal. I always use the slow cooker lining, so much easier to clean up afterwards, but the material is cooker is made of, cleaning isn't a problem anyway. I wanted to buy a heavy pot like this locally, but no store had this size available. And Overstock always has fair prices. And the cost for shipping is nothing to complain about.

Wonderful!
from Ashburn, VA,  Dec 18, 2009

I've never had a crock-pot and always wanted one so i gifted this to myself for the holidays. For the price it is huge, I've seen slow cookers for 5-6 qts that go for about the same price. This thing is huge, even though it's just for myself and my husband I wanted to get something big enough to fit a whole chicken and make enough soup or stew for my entire family if need be and this fits the bill. I made lamb which cooked the whole day and came off tender and delicious and then also made a whole steamed chicken. This purchase will definitely pay itself off with the money i'm saving on my electricity bill and can I can have great food that needs to cook slowly. It heats up great, has off, high, low and defrost setting. I haven't used the defroster so I don't know about that, but everything else is great. It looks neat on top of the counter top, is EXTREMELY easy to clean, all u have to do is fill with soap and water then rinse and wash with a regular sponge like normal, doesn't matter if its cooked on grease or whatever, it just washes off. Outside just wipe with a damp cloth and its good to go. It's heavy and good quality. It does require some planning ahead to use but I love the low maintenance of having great food without sweating over a stove. Price is great for the size and quality!

My first Cooker that I received had a faulty stoneware insert., With a quick chat online with a customer service rep, I was immediately issued a return authorization and shipped a replacement unit. The Cooker is excellent for Pot Roast and Stews. I have also cooked a Ham in it. Awesome product and Above and Beyond Service. Thank You Overstock!!!!!!!!

Works great and is big enough for a small turkey. The defrost option is nice too.

Huge!
from New York,  Aug 4, 2010

This 8.5 qt slow cooker is huge. The major reason I bought this was because of its capacity. It can easily hold a 6-7 lb chuck roast, and there's enough room for a layer of vegetables (a couple of cups chopped) a layer a meat a couple inches thick, and new potatoes on top. You could cook a complete meal in this for a large group of people. This is great for parties.

Good buy
from Wilmington, NC,  Jul 29, 2010

It has high medium and low temps that are actually what they say. It cleans up easily and doesn't take up much space on the counter. Best of all the ceramic crock is fully glazed all over so it can be washed much more thoroughly than the ones with the unglazed bottom.

BAD CHOICE!!!
from Milford, CT,  Apr 28, 2010

Firstly, I have to say, I shop on Overstock.com all the time and love it! I have purchased many things that I have loved!!! But, as far as the crockpot...I have used crockpots for years and always loved them - until this one! I used it 3 times in 2 months, which isn't very much. Crockpots should withstand a great deal of use. It seemed to cook very fast on the low setting, but i really didn't think much about it - I was planning to cook the meal overnight for a luncheon the next day. In the morning, I found that the pot was spitting the sauce out from under the lid - spaghetti sauce was all over the counter, the wall and the floor. But, that's not all! Because of the mess it made, the sauce dripped down under the crock into the heating unit. When I lifted the crock out after the party, I saw the mess it made, and began to clean it out with a soapy scrubby sponge. All of a sudden, the base of the crockpot holder came apart, exposing the wires. That should never happen. There must have been a short in the mechanism, which caused the spitting of the sauce. I will never use this dangerous appliance again, and ,I will never purchase a "no name" crockpot again!!!

Slow Cooking Crock
 from Atlanta,  Feb 8, 2010

I like the slow cooker. It is lage enough for just about every recipe we have. I didn't like the construction of bottom of it. It kept slipping out of the bottom retainer. I wound up taking it apart and tighten up the screws. They may have loosened during shipping. All in all it cooks good and that is what it's all about.

The handles were not cool to the touch - they were too hot!! Also, the chili was boiling on low. I could not leave this cooking while I was not at home. It looked great. Looking good and working good are not the same.

Like most other slow cookers the high setting is burn setting if you have slow cooking in mind. The high setting is good for bringing the contents up to temp fast, just don't leave it there for too long! This is a slow cooker considering its ease of use and size. This slow cooker feels heavy and seems to be very well made. Will recommend it.

Broken after first use!!
 from FL,  May 24, 2010

Great size. Holds a very large roast and veggies. Used it one time and the thing fell apart!! Threw away box and all so return/refund/exchange is not possible. I do recommend the size but not this brand.

I taught myself how to cook
from Los Angeles, CA,  Apr 17, 2010

Before I bought this slow cooker last month, I truly never cook anything except to grab a bag of salad from the fridge. This is so easy to use that even a novice cook like myself can be truly confident about turning out great soups, chilis, and more. I made chicken soup and pork ribs last week for my boyfriend and he loves it.

Crockpot
from Happy Jack, Arizona,  Apr 12, 2010

I just used the slow cooker for the first time this weekend. It actually cooked just fine but it seperated at the bottom where the side portion of the cooker connects with the bottom. I snapped it back in but it seems as though it won't stay. I am about to call customer service and see about replacing. I love the size of it and I am going to try another. Hopefully the next review will have 5 stars.
